Developer Plans to Renovate North Omaha Assisted Living Facility
A developer plans to bring back a former assisted living facility at 4809 Redman Avenue. The existing 1-story building will be rehabilitated, while a 100,000 sq. ft., 3-story building is constructed. The $36 million project will be called the Novalla and will have 160 apartments, split between 136 affordable units and 24 market-rate units. The Omaha Planning Board approved Tax Increment Financing for $6.3 million. Construction should start this October and be completed by October 2028. – Isaiah Ang

Thirty-three percent of U.S. adults, ages 18 to 34, live with their parents, according to Visual Capitalist. In Nebraska, it’s 20 percent. Only three states – North Dakota (12%), Wyoming (16%) and South Dakota (18%) – are lower. The highest states are New Jersey (44%), Connecticut (41%), California (39%) and Maryland (39%). Here are some states closer to home: Iowa (22%); Kansas (23%); and Missouri (27%).

Businesses on Streetcar Route Balance Short-Term Pain with Long-Term Gain
Omaha’s streetcar project is designed to connect key parts of the city and drive long-term economic growth, but as construction continues, business owners and developers say the short-term impacts remain significant. Mike Moylan, president and CEO of Shamrock Development, has been involved with the project since its early stages and said its long-term vision is strong. “I’ve been around the project since its inception and the plan that is in place now is exceptional, because we are connecting two of our biggest economic drivers in the metropolitan area from the med center down to downtown Omaha,” Moylan said. He described the streetcar as more than a transit project, calling it a strategic investment intended to spur development along its route. “This is a transportation corridor to spur economic development,” he said, comparing it to the growth seen along West Dodge Road west of 114th Street. “Look what’s happened along the corridor from 114th to Elkhorn. We have the nicest office...
Omaha Metro Area Continues to Lag in Tech Jobs
The Omaha metro area continues to lag in information and technology jobs. The Aksarben Foundation released a new Nebraska Tech Workforce Dashboard highlighting keys trends in Nebraska. The dashboard was created with the help of the University of Nebraska’s Center for Public Affairs Research. The dashboard provides easy-to-digest, real time data regarding state and local trends affecting the tech workforce and hiring. Data points include demographics, demand, population trends and job growth. According to the data, the metro area, which includes Douglas, Sarpy, Washington and Dodge counties, has experienced a consistent decline in tech-sector jobs, falling from a high of 19,639 in 2017 to 17,391 in 2025. Much of that drop occurred from 2020-2025, with the metro losing nearly 10 percent of tech jobs. This occurred despite the fact that 15 of Nebraska’s top 20 tech employers are based in the Omaha area. According to data collected by the Computing Technology Industry Association, in...

They Will Kill You Is a Stylish Burst of Horror Chaos
★ ★ ★ They Will Kill You is another Hollywood entry in the Satanic cabal subgenre, a lane that seems to be gaining ground in horror. It’s full of hyper-stylized violence that plays like a cross between the Kill Bill films, the Grindhouse double feature and From Dusk Till Dawn. It’s a martial arts, blood spraying battle royale of good versus evil. The cinematic style works well for the action, until it doesn’t. Zazie Beetz plays Asia Reaves, who just finished a nine-year stint in prison…
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come Scores Big With Blood and Chaos
★ ★ ★ ½ Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is a much better film than a horror-action-comedy sequel should be. In fact, it may be better than the original in many ways. In the first film Grace MacCaullay (Samara Weaving) marries Alex Le Domas (Mark O’Brien) in the ridiculously large backyard of the family estate. The Le Domas family has a tradition. When there’s a new spouse added to the family, the new family member…

Earth’s sun is under threat from a phenomenon, an infrared line from Venus to the sun, called the Petrova Line…
