ABOUT THE CITADEL™
At Grid Down, our entire focus is on safe, silent, renewable power that gives you energy independence through energy storage systems. Our Citadel Series is offered in multiple enclosure model configurations to meet each customer’s specific power(kW) and capacity storage(kWh) requirements from 140kWh to 2.5MW.
HOW IT WORKS: The Citadel uses hybrid controls and collects energy from an electricity grid or renewable power sources, such as solar and wind, and stores it using high-grade, extremely safe lithium iron phosphate battery storage technology (see below diagrams). Then, batteries discharge and release the energy through high efficiency power inverters and control systems when necessary, during peak demands, grid stability, power factor correction and general power conditioning, power outages, and in a variety of other applications. The system is optimal for off grid and on grid systems.
SAFETY/CERTIFICATIONS: Each system includes built-in safety systems for Battery Charge Protection, Fire & Heat Detection/ Protection and Climate HVAC System Control. All systems meet or exceed UL1973, UL1741, UL9540, UL9540a and IEEEP2800, IEEE1547, IBR, ISO9001, NEMA R3.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS)
The EMS is responsible for monitoring and control of the energy flow within the Citadel. It coordinates the work of a BMS, a PCS, and other components of an energy storage system. By collecting and analyzing energy data, an EMS can efficiently manage the power resources of the system. Each system offers complete energy control and modes of operations programmable for installer 24/7 user interface. All our systems include a remote monitoring system that leverages modern cloud infrastructure (100% in the USA) to enable easy and effective remote access.
Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery System: Lithium Iron Phosphate is the safest lithium ion the market absent of potentially volatile chemicals that are found in other lithium cells. It will not explode or catch on fire. Our batteries are encapsulated in strong welded aluminum housing with built-in safety relief. The cells are arranged in modules that form battery packs that are air cooled.
Battery Management System (BMS): An advanced BMS ensures the safety of the battery system. It monitors the condition of the battery cells, measures their parameters and states such as state-of-charge (SOC) and state-of-health (SOH), and protects batteries from adverse conditions and optimizes the systemfor maximum life.
Inverter and Power Conversion System (PCS): The inverter converts direct current (DC) from the batteries into alternating current (AC) supplied to the facilities. The LionESS EMS Technology is a power source agnostic hybrid architecture that is flexible enough to meet your individual needs.
