A freestanding villa from the turn of the century becomes a layered, contemporary family residence. Across three floors, the design carefully reinterprets the historic structure’s spatial logic, translating its bourgeois presence into a dynamic, living architecture for a family of five.

Each floor unfolds with its own atmospheric rhythm: the ground floor embraces a vibrant, classically-tinged opulence—flirting with bohemian grandeur; the upper floor, home to bedrooms and the main bathroom, retreats into quiet material harmony; and the garden level—with guest room, sauna, and playroom—dives into a bold, postmodern language in dialogue with the rest.

Custom-built elements structure the interiors: from integrated bed and sofa landscapes to a fully tailored dining table. Color and ornament guide the narrative, with layered palettes, graphic reliefs, and bespoke moldings reimagining historical motifs. Across all bathrooms and the kitchen, granite becomes protagonist—each slab a character, from deep Chianti red to soft, dusty green.

The outdoor terrace continues this choreography: leftover stone offcuts from the ground floor are cut to echo the dimension of original floorboards, laid in a rhythm that extends the interior dining space into the open air. A curtain system transforms the terrace into a Mediterranean loggia—shading, filtering, and framing a space that remains permeable and free.
