Welcome to an eclectic potpourri of the diverse activities undertaken by Johanna & Friedrich Grafling in recent years. This range encompasses everything from pursuing architectural projects, engaging in art production, and curating exhibitions to conducting spatial research and fostering intellectual dialogue with key figures in the realms of art, architecture, and design.
Deeply rooted in the spheres of art and architecture, Johanna & Friedrich consistently seek opportunities to challenge and expand their understanding of established systems and operational paradigms.
The approach taken involves trusting in revitalizing historic fabrics to contemporary dwellings, believing in the power of contemporary art as a means for development, discourse, and dialogue, and referring all categories towards fundamental research and knowledge production.
At present, their research focus revolves around the exploration of revitalizing rural areas through cultural production. This involves a thorough analysis of the intricate connections between art, architecture, and socio-economic frameworks. Through their multifaceted endeavors, Johanna & Friedrich are carving a distinctive path that bridges creativity, dialogue, and transformative impact.
Together, they founded Cultural Avenue GmbH, Salon Kennedy in Frankfurt, and Kunstverein Wiesen e.V. in Wiesen, Bavaria. Alongside these endeavors, they have been steadily cultivating a private art collection known as “Sammlung Gräfling”.
