Gender: Female
Age: 1000 years old
Birthdate/Sign: Alleyne has no canon birthdate. I will be making her a Capricorn born on 12/27 for in-game purposes.
Going over the signs and their attributes, it was the only one that struck me as a possible fit. A lot of what Alleyne is like is reflected there, including her hard-working nature, how down to earth she is, and how critical and calculating she can be. I even saw bits of herself she tries to hide like how protective and parental she can be at times as well as her ability to hold a grudge. I also feel an earth sign would be a good match for someone who's as secretive and introverted as she is and who has lived in a forest for as long as she's been alive. The cardinal attribute fits a forceful, iron-willed woman like her as well.
Tattoo: Placed on the jugular notch of her neck
Suitability: N/A
Power: Alleyne will be arriving with her double-ended/capped staff. It has no powers and is but a simple weapon.
Otherwise, Alleyne will be keeping her speed and agility. As an elf, she is a much quicker person than those of other races in her world. She can sprint on land and through trees quite fast, have her attacks flow form blow to blow deftly and with little effort, and can even leap up to the top of the tallest trees in two to three leaps at the most. Using this, she's able to lose opponents quickly, track them better, set up traps easier, and observe the lay of the land greater than others.
Should this power need not be toned done or is not considered a power, I would like to grant her the starter level Earth power Manipulation: Growth.
Personality: Alleyne is, as her title would imply, an instructor of combat. She's worked with her elf tribe all her life as a drill instructor figure with a harsh and commanding presence and voice. She's ruthless, strict, calculating, grades on hard curves, and diligent. If one trains with her, they can expect to be put through hell, but will come out quite strong and capable in the end. She's an unwavering authority figure, with the people she knows simultaneously respecting and fearing her for it.
To go along with this, Alleyne is also blunt and honest. She won't mince words; if you fuck up, she'll let you know why you did and how you can improve. Even if you're a complete stranger, she'll be polite, but that sharp honesty remains. Any aspect of battle you can think of, she knows about, and can help improve you on. From how to actually hold a weapon, how terrain works, battle tactics, parrying, you name it, she's an expert in it. There's an efficiency and ruthlessness to everything she does.
One of her favorite things is sharing her wisdom and giving lectures. In her long time alive, she's gained a lot of insight as to the nature of life and fighting, giving her words an aphoristic quality to them. Teaching and guidance are her truest passions and it shows strongly in her lessons and morals. Her mind is still as sharp as her words are. With her, you feel as if she's watching you and making sure you don't stray onto a bad path in life.
Alleyne is also very logical, analytical, and methodical, reading everyone like she would a book or a battle plan. She's stubborn; once committed to anything, be it a lesson or battle or argument, she won't give in unless there is danger to someone's life hinging on it. Even then, she has trouble relenting. Once in an actual fight, she is quick, packs a punch, and uses her smarts and strength in tandem to overpower her opponents.
Unlike many other elves in her tribe, she's mostly over her xenophobia and racism, especially towards humans. She's more into judging people based on individual merit, giving them a chance before labeling them a danger. Her mingling with humans, having a half-blooded student, and the fact she was heartbroken by other elves has a lot to do with this. However, she remains steadfast and traditionalist, just not with race relations. Her age combined with her stubbornness makes it hard for her to change her ways suddenly without outside influences.
However, she is also quite reserved and curt at times. The only person she's not constantly honest with is herself, often putting her own needs below her duty. She's not selfish and allows herself little time to relax, preferring instead to focus on her work and her students. The elf rarely speaks her own heart or her own mind, daring not to challenge the elders of her home until she hit a breaking point, and even then did it without fanfare or quarrel, claiming she was only doing it for a student of hers when in reality, she wanted some freedoms as well. At times, she can be easily frustrated and impatient, especially around people who refuse to give up things she doesn't approve of, such as teasing. Refusing to learn also sets her off; laziness is one of her biggest anger triggers. If she spots you bumming around, you're in for an earful easily.
Alleyne also has some trust and issues with interpersonal relationships. In her past, she was left shattered after the closeness of another elf woman by the name of Echidna was taken from her. The two argued about the laws of the forest elves and Echidna left her behind, leaving Alleyne quite guarded and bitter. The impact of this can still be seen to this day; the women can hold a grudge for centuries if she wants to. Because of Echidna, she also has little patience for perverts or stalkers, or those she deems as such, making sure they know she means business right away.
It takes her a while to warm up to anyone else, and even then, longer still before she can admit it to herself, such as the case was with her student Nowa. Nowa was the only one after Echidna to help defrost her, showing it was okay to do from time to time. If she does get close, she'll protect that person with her life and act as a big sister or adoptive mother figure to them. Throughout all this, she'll only show a stern, serious facial expression, giving off a strong, intimidating look, even to those she likes.
In the end though, Alleyne is a loyal, tough, great-willed woman and wants only the best out of others, even if she has trouble showing it or has to sacrifice herself in the process. She's an impeccable soldier and military mind throughout, for better or for worse.
✖ SAMPLES:
"Zodion" First-Person Network Entry: [Note and communicator in hand, Alleyne has climbed up a nearby tree, trying to get a good vantage point, eyes scouring the area for any signs of civilization or hostility. The letter has been crumpled in her hand, having been more than a bit put off by the fact it had her name on it. The elf sighed and began mumbling to herself.]This means whoever took me knows me personally. I'm hoping I'm their only victim so far, but I doubt it. Smart bet would be Echidna's involved in this somehow. I wouldn't put it past that vile serpent.
[She fiddled with the communicator in her other hand, trying her damnedest to figure out just what in the world she was fiddling with. Oh, that push got it going. It's somehow recording her image and voice; the recording shows her face, ever stern and annoyed looking. Her voice is strong and matches her words well.]Is anyone getting this? I'm in need of some information, and would appreciate your compliance. I'm Alleyne, and I do believe I've been taken hostage and given some mission about helping some Twelve. Details were vague at best.
[Ugh, she felt ridiculous using this and stating such. She looked around a bit to make sure nobody was listening in, then continuing, ears flicking.]Until I can be sure what's going on, I'm going to assume that anyone responding is in the same situation as I now find myself in. And I'm not helping until I can be shown just exactly what it is they need help with and can confirm their cause. Thank you in advance.
[The elf lets out another sigh and waits, stuffing the letter into a pouch on her belt and grabbing her staff, tapping an end against the trunk of the tree she's on. One last thought escapes her lips as she sits there.]This isn't funny. My patience has already been worn thin enough today.
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry: The elf was tired. Nowa leaving, if even by necessity and to gain her freedom and happiness, had exhausted Alleyne. She had finally allowed herself to get close to someone else and look what happens. They're gone. It was for the best they had parted; Nowa would have just faced more verbal abuse and threats had she returned with her, and she was strong enough now to handle travel on her own. She couldn't think straight, pausing to take rest against the trunk of a tree off the side of the road.
Alleyne opened her eyes to find herself no longer against that trunk but placed near some kind of temple. Had she slept more than she intended to and began sleepwalking? Or had she been taken as she rested?
“No, I'd remember that. I'd have woken and at least done battle.” she thought, slowly coming to and reaching for her staff. Her eyes narrowed and ears tensed, surveying her surroundings and slowly making her way around. Wherever she was, it was gorgeous. Now was not the time for sight-seeing, however, trying to remain silent lest anyone come back for her. It wasn't long before what appeared to be a shining box showed up in the corner of her eye, causing her to pause and turn.
Looking both ways, she walked on over to it, making her way into some water and beginning to splash on over. As she lifted a leg, a bolt of pain went through the bottom of her neck, as if someone had managed to pierce her cape with a dart or arrow and have it dig its way in. Alleyne's eyes widened, trying to see what direction she was attacked from.
“Show yourself, coward!” her voice commanded, only to be met with the sounds of water forming around her. Had it been a trap? The elf whipped her staff into a defensive position, hands tight around it. However, all she could find was herself, oddly. A vision of her own body danced before her, naked, with a mark on her neck where she had felt the pain surge a moment prior. Her cheeks reddened as it faded, teeth grit as she watched the image fade as quickly as it came in.
What devilry was that? Trying to assure herself it was just magic meant to confuse her, she let her staff back down, crooking a finger and looking down the scarf bit of her cape that hung loosely around her neck, pushing her green top collar aside. Well, shit. It was there.
“Damn.” Alleyne pulled her hat down over her face, snarling in anger. Visions of the old war between the humans and elves danced through her skull. They had invaded trying to enslave her kind and this reminded her all too much of it. She took a bit of the water from the altar and run it down her neck, thumbing the tattoo a bit hoping it'd wash off. The last thing she wanted was to be marked like this. She was nobody's pet and wouldn't allow anyone to own her like this. It was a good thing she had her cape to cover it, moving it back in position and scowling at the spot she had seen her reflection in.
The elf felt completely violated and ugly, her skin crawling as she rubbed at her chest and neck, her nerves shot. Whoever had taken her and put it there was going to pay. She'd need answers and information first, though. Nobody ever won freedom just barging in and flailing at their captors; Nowa had taught her that. A sigh escaped her lips as she pulled herself together, muscles tense and hard.
First Nowa left, now this kidnapping shit happens? It was going to be a long day.
