What's Afoot With Grace:
Going, Going!!!
January 13, 2026
I hope to update my free reads page in the web store by the end of this week, so if you haven’t snabbled some holiday happily ever afters for the next snow day, best be about it. I have been amazed at how popular stocking stuffer discounts are. Who knew?
The print version of A Gentleman Far From Home is now available from Amazon. I should have the Ingram Spark version uploaded after the ebook launch on Jan. 23, but processing the file into the various catalogs can take a while.
What is attractive? Lord Julian’s twelfth mystery, A Gentleman of Modest Ambitions, due out in May. This title is now available for pre-order in the web store and from the usual retail sites. Print will show up much closer to publication (but it will show up)!
On the blog this week, I’m looking at the relationship in my life between specific places and specific emotions. Chime in with your insights here.
New Year, Old Me!!!
January 3, 2026
Many of you have been browsing the web store for stocking stuffers on the free reads page. Those holiday titles will remain free for at least the first week of January. Sometimes it’s nice to let the holiday glow linger.
On the blog this week, I’m reflecting on my personal ingredients for on-going success, which do not at present include trips to the gym, green smoothies, or staying up much past bedtime. Add your wisdom here.
Frosty Freebies and a Wonderful Year!!!
December 21, 2025
On the blog this week, I’m pondering what went right, which turned out to be a surprisingly long list. Add your contribution here.
And in the web store this week, I added A Knight Before Christmas to the free reads page. I apparently used this title twice (I do like it), and this version is a short novella penned as a holiday prequel to the Rogues to Riches series. Quinn Wentworth is a bit of a grinch, to appearances, but true love will not be thwarted, especially not at Yuletide, and triple-dog especially not in a book store! (The other Knight Before appears in Christmas Treats (also free) and has all those bunnies in it.)
Playing for Change
December 14, 2025
On the blog this week, we’re focusing on play, that thing you do without any supervision, just for fun, just ’cause you feel like it. Or that thing you might have done when you were a kid? Add your comment here.
Holiday reminder: The web store freebie page has lots of Yuletide happily ever afters (and one whodunit), some in ebook, some in audio book format. Grab you some stocking stuffers for your good little self!

Later this year I am slated to teach a series of unmounted (not-in-the-saddle) horse barn lessons. We’ll look at how horses see, hear, and feel differently from humans, learn what an un-mucked stall can tell us about our horses, and compare human cognitive capabilities with horse minds. Maybe. If a bunch of six year olds sign up, I’m not sure what material I’ll present, so I’m asking the other instructors what their favorite ground lessons are. The first response I got was, “Just ask your students, ‘Can you do nothing with your horse? Can you … Continue reading
