Middle River operates across the lake, river barge, rail, dump truck, and terminal logistics operations modes. Today, Middle River serves primarily the Illinois and Northwest Indiana markets.
Terminal operations were originally established as a Great Lakes and Illinois river & rail terminal in 1998 and has since added terminal operations in Calumet Park, Lemont, Rock Creek, and Henry. Asset based marine operations began in 2009 and have expanded to a 9 tug and 100 barge fleet with more than 120 employees as of 2023.
