About the Campaign
Learning Heroes partners with advocacy organizations, districts, and states, to engage families as a strategy for student success. With Go Beyond Grades, we’re sounding an alarm—and offering a path forward.
Families want to support their children’s learning—but often don’t have clear information about whether their child is on track. Nearly 9 in 10 parents believe their child is on grade level, yet national data tells a different story—closer to 3 in 10 students are actually performing at grade level.
Why the disconnect? Most parents rely on report card grades—and nearly 80% say their child earns mostly B’s or better. While grades matter, they don’t fully reflect whether a child is meeting grade-level expectations.
Teachers consistently say one of the most important steps parents can take is to build ongoing communication between home and school.
Go Beyond Grades helps families and educators work together with clearer information—making it easier to have the conversations that help students thrive. This site offers free tools, tips, and resources (in English and Spanish) to help families understand how their child is really doing, take action, and build strong school-home partnerships to support student success.

National and Local Campaigns
To date, we’ve launched campaigns nationwide and in ten communities: Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York City, Sacramento County, St. Louis, Tarrant County (TX), Washington, DC, Milwaukee, Beloit (WI), and statewide in Arkansas.
Our research shows that parents who recall the campaign are more likely to take action—seeking information, connecting with teachers, and finding supports for their child.
Each campaign is tailored to local priorities, key among them improving literacy outcomes.
