*waves* Hello everyone! I'm Yumiko, the new coder helper for PSA! I'm very excited to be a member and I'll work my very hardest to get all of the codeing done.
*gasp* I get geoviki!! I LOVE geoviki! *squee* Anyway, I'm very excited to be a part of the team and I will do my very best!
Just a note to let you know that PSA has finally been updated (yes, yes, we can hear the echoes of 'finally!'). All the info is in the latest entry of the updates section / the main page.
Thank you so much for all your hard work and patience. We'd be nothing without you guys.
Hi! I'm a new volunteer for the PSA so I'm here to introduce myself.
My name's Katie (or Green Emeralds...) and I've been into the HP fandom for a long long time. I took a hiatus for a couple of years but I'm back now, and here to stay. I used to write a bit of fanfiction when I was in Year 10 and 11 and, although it helped pull up my GCSE English grades it was, frankly, rubbish. Now I stick to reading it instead, and then complaining if a story is too American. I spend a fair amount of time on FictionAlley on the Guns and Handcuffs and HMS Wolfstar, although I remember the time when we were all true gutter pirates and got kicked off for a while. My OTPs are Harry/Draco and Remus/Sirius but I'm trying to read more Harry/Ron and Draco/Ron. I don't really get on with Snarry or Remus/Snape all that well at all - probably because I think Snape should end up with Tonks (I'm sorry! Het...I know...it shocked me too!).
Now, about real life. I'm 20 years old and I've just finished my second year at the University of Bath. I'm studying for an undergrad Masters in Chemistry because I'm weird, and in August I'm going to Purdue University in Indiana to study and research for a year. I'm looking forward to it, except I'm worried about having a roommate and I'm dreading having to spell words in the American way (aluminum instead of aluminium, sulfur instead of sulphur etc.) In about a week I'm going travelling around mainland Europe with 3 of my uni friends for 5 weeks, so I won't be around here until mid July.
When I'm not studying I like to dress up as a Power Ranger, do Latin and Ballroom dancing, watch Doctor Who and Torchwood and play the piano, clarinet and 'cello. I'm heavily into British music so I listen to a lot of James Morrison, Madness, Paolo Nutini, Culture Club, The Ordinary Boys, Elgar, McFly, David Bowie, a smattering of Wham and a lot of Take That.
I think it's time I officially resigned from the team or went on indefinite hiatus. I've got another job in addition to my regular one, so I can barely cope with my primary fandom commitments such as WTP or crack_broom. I don't have time to read as much fanfic as I did before, and as you could see, I haven't suggested a new author for ages.
So this is my resignation (or hiatus) letter -- whichever you'd prefer. I'm sorry I can't stay with you anymore. I love PSA and I wish you good luck! And thank you!
We've finally updated PSA, so now you can see your hard work up on the site :) A great big thanks to all of you for your wonderful contributions; we couldn't have done it without you guys. Feel free to pimp the update out to everyone!
Please do us a favor (this applies to all of you): email the authors that you're in charge of, tell them that PSA has been updated, tell them to check their individual author pages to make sure that they're happy with everything.
Oh, and there have been a reshuffling of helpers and allocated authors, so please make sure that you email the authors that you are CURRENTLY in charge of.
I'm working on a bunch of fics, turning HTML into PHP, and I've run across a fic that doesn't have closing tags. It's understandable, everyone makes little mistakes, but I just want to double check that all of the fic is here - sometimes files do odd things and delete themselves.
The problem is that it's a fic by blythely. It seems that all of her fics are flocked, and I can't find this one anywhere else. So, if the original coder could just give me a link to where Enemies Even Closer, or just give me the last couple lines so I can double check that they're what I have, that would be awesome.
Just a quick note to let you know that the chan password has been removed. Since you acquire the password from the same place anyway (the PSA Dungeons LJ community), it was silly to have two seperate passwords. Now the chan content can be accessed using the normal NC-17 password.
Please remember to check the chan page as well when coding. Some authors might have stories already on the chan page, so you needn't code them again.
Well, it's finally happening. A new server has been purchased and currently we're transferring all the files to it. Then we're going to be changing the domain so that going to http://glassesreflect.net actually brings forth the files from the new server, rather than the old one at the moment.
This change means that the PSA will be down for at most 72 hours (or so they say). We're expecting that to happen perhaps late this weekend or early next week (around Dec 18). So don't be alarmed when the PSA link doesn't get you anywhere - it will come back.
Also this is just a note regarding the January batches. Since it isn't very realistic to send us everything on the 1st, we're going to give you a week extra. This means that we expect your monthly batches to be sent to us by the 8th. (Either that, or a report to say that the authors were inactive and there were no codings.)
If you're going on holiday, already on a holiday, or if there's any other reason that you can't get the batches to us by the 8th, send us a mail to let us know.
Season's greetings ^_^ ~ Silver & Harmony
Edit: Well, the transition took much faster than was expected. Everything should be as it was before. However, if you browse around and find something unusual with the page, then please give us a yell so we can fix it up. Thanks guys!
Hello! New volunteer for PSA and so an introduction is needed. ^^
My name is Persh, 20 year old Asian. Currently in Uni studying Computer Science. Adores HD to death and been reading it for years. My life is actually one big cycle, study, read HD, code then study again, with a bit of blogging and fanlistings in between.
Never actually tried writing HD fics, since I know that it would only end in disaster. I could read any Harry/? fics, but would avoid Snarry (unless it's very, very, very well written).
Looking forward to helping you all! *much love* thus currently looking for the recs list I've compiled and check if any author in them have not been added or rec'd
Hello all. I'll make this short (because I need to learn brain structure), but I'm a new person also. My name is Essa, and you may or (more probably) may not recognise my old journal, essawkward rather than this one. I'm Canadian, and in university, which is stressful, so coding (especially fandom-related coding) is one of my choice ways to relax.
I've been in fandom a couple years, participating mostly in the Harry/Draco area of things. I got my start on Guns 'n' Handcuffs, and still run the website. I'm self taught with HTML and CSS, though I've taken a course in intro C (which irrelevant to all life). I've got a few other fandom projects going, but I love PSA and can't wait to help out. If there's anything I can do for you let me know! I love being useful, especially to help other lovely fandom people.
Hi everyone! I'm new to the PSA helpers and I thought I'd pop up to introduce myself.
My name is Jessica and I'm a 17 year old Brit with a 'slight' David Bowie obsession. I've been reading Harry Potter fanfiction for over a year now and just recently started writing my own for a h/d challenge table on my LJ. I also have two WIP chaptered H/D fics on the go at fictionalley.org and fanfiction.net.
In case you hadn't guessed, H/D is my OTP but I also love Snarry and will read and enjoy pretty much everything else.
We've had a bit of concern recently about painless_j giving author recommendations and no one responding to them. You might think that it's our job to decide whether to put up authors or not, but as you already know, we're very busy with changing files to PHP, putting fics up in general and general maintenance with the site, which actually takes up a lot more work than a lot of people realise. Besides, the PSA archives fics that are good quality according to what the general population of HP slash fans prefer. Therefore, seeing as there only two of us, we can't cut it ourselves, and we're already busy with other parts of the site anyway. We took helpers on board so that we can rely on their opinions to know which fics would be good enough to put up, and which aren't. Although we've had quite a few responses to the earlier recs, the comments are diminishing. Remember that basically, it's your job to give your opinions about the recommendations.
cluegirlis waiting for your "yay" or "nay"! As usual, no-one asks you to read all fics of hers or novel-length ones, but checking a couple of them is a must. Voting for or against a new author at PSA is your job too! So go have a look at the post and vote.

On an unrelated note, a suggestion for our maintainers. There seems to be an option to make friends-locked posts in a community a default, right? 'Cos we really should make all posts here f-locked, if we don't do it yet. Because all it takes is for one curious reader to click on the link to glassesreflect from any of ours userinfos, and it's the straight road to wank. Apart from the fact that general public should have no part in the inner workings of the archive, we discuss potential additions to the archive and such. F_W, for instance, reposts anything that is not locked if it's pointed there. I believe we really don't want that sort of trouble. <= that's the voice of experience. We had to go back and lock everything in a community of another archive where I'm a submissions mod because of a curious outsider.
I'm the new kid on the block so to say. I just wanted to say hi to you all and introduce myself.
I'm 23 and currently a student of English/History/Politics at a German University. I'm sorry for not posting this sooner, but due to a 2 hours oral exam at university I was a bit preocupied and only got around to do this now.
I hope we will have a good time here. For further questions about me, just post the questions.
Thanks for the recent batch of fics. We're sorry we hadn't made a note earlier, but we've both been so ridiculously busy that we barely had any time to do so, so we really, sincerely apologize for keeping you in the dark. We thought we should let you know what's been happening.
At the moment, we are still waiting for news from Sarvi. Although the two of us are the new joint-managers of PSA, Sarvi is still the official owner, and it was her decision to change the servers. In the process of moving to the new server, the two of us have temporarily lost access, meaning that for the moment, we are unable to add the new HTML documents or alter anything on PSA. From what we know, Sarvi's the only one who has access at the moment, but she is currently on a trip and we have been waiting to hear from her.
So your batches are in safe hands (our hands, hehe), ready to be put up once Sarvi gives us the signal. However, everything still resumes as normal. Again, we're sorry for not letting you know earlier.
Feel free to comment or email if you have any further queries.
When I first started reading H/D almost a year ago, rurounihime was the author that solidified my stance as an H/D shipper. She has a way with weaving emotion into every single scene, no matter how short or seemingly insignificant. She's written a bit so most of her fics can be found in her memories, but here are some of my favorites.
-agnes_bean Her memories section. She doesn't have too much slash, but what she does have is AMAZING. I would particularly recommend "As Time Unfolds Us: A Memoir," and "Prodigal Son."
I'm Jey and I'm a new member. I saw painless_j post and decided to help. I love formatting, coding and all that, plus I'm an avid reader, so it should be great.
Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Scorpla and I found this community a few years ago, so I was very happy to see that it is continuing! After reading painless_j call for help yesterday I thought I would submit my services. As much as I read, it's the least I can do. Besides, I'll take every opportunity available to justify my fic habit!
