What happened?

I'm writing this after getting this bug report and being able to reproduce this myself.

When changing the string preferences of a mod sometimes there are sometimes characters missing from the saved string, even though they are shown in the preferences.

In the sidebar hover mod this bug is quite visible, it only seems to save the string when the sidebar is flickering (from changing it's width value) and typing to fast after that results in missing characters.

Reproducible?

• I have checked that this issue cannot be reproduced on Mozilla Firefox.
