This issue is about updating material-components-android to the latest stable version (currently the 1.5.0).

However, last time during the update from the current 1.2.1 to 1.3.0 and issue occurred and thus this update got reverted and this kind of updates stopped.

Dependabot

Thus, while adding Dependabot to this repo (see PR), the com.google.android.material:material dependency was added to the ignored list for the time being. As per this converstaion on that PR it was decided that it is best not to ignore this update. Thus, this issue got created to bring that to everyones attention so that we can move forward with updating material-components-android and stop ignoring it indefinitely.

TODO:

• After the material-components-android gets updated, it should be also removed from the Dependabot ignored list.
