Summary of Changes

Hello @fzyzcjy, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request addresses an issue with the rendering and reporting of age buckets for in-flight HTTP requests. It introduces a structured approach to defining and managing these age buckets, moving from a cumulative counting method to a non-cumulative one. This change enhances the precision of reported metrics by providing distinct counts for each age range, improving observability and debugging capabilities for request latency.

Highlights

  • Refactored Age Bucket Management: Introduced a new AgeBuckets struct to centralize the definition and generation of age bucket bounds and their corresponding le (less than or equal to) and gt (greater than) labels.
  • Non-Cumulative Metric Reporting: Changed the smg_http_inflight_request_age_count metric to report non-cumulative counts per age bucket, providing more granular data for monitoring.
  • Enhanced Metric Labels: The set_inflight_request_age_count function now accepts both gt and le labels, allowing for more precise filtering and analysis of age bucket metrics in monitoring systems.
  • Updated Unit Tests: Modified existing tests and added new ones to validate the correctness of the new AgeBuckets structure and the non-cumulative counting logic.

Code Review

This pull request refactors the in-flight request age tracking to use non-cumulative buckets, which seems to fix a rendering issue. A new AgeBuckets struct is introduced to dynamically generate bucket labels, and LazyLock ensures this is done once. The logic in compute_bucket_counts is simplified to produce non-cumulative counts, and tests are updated accordingly. The changes look good and address the problem. I've provided a few suggestions to improve code efficiency and style, and to add back a doc comment that was removed.
