LGTM, r=me when green Maybe the doc comment 'A global interner for managing interned values of common types.' should be updated to reflect the fact that the interner isn't necessarily global. |

Well, it is global everywhere except for two tests 😅 And it is meant to be used as a global variable. I just wanted to avoid unnecessary global state in tests. |
