Currently

x = (foo(), null)?.y

is folded to

x = void 0;

This is incorrect as foo may have side effect.

This PR fixes this and insteads folds it to:

x = (foo(), void 0);

This preserves the side effect of the call to foo.

Pull request overview

Fixes a minifier constant-folding bug where optional chaining on a known-nullish base (null/undefined) could be folded to undefined while incorrectly dropping side effects in the base expression.

Changes:

  • Update fold_chain_expr to preserve base-expression side effects by rewriting to a sequence expression (base, void 0) when folding a nullish optional chain.
  • Add peephole tests covering optional chaining folds where the base includes side effects.
  • Add an end-to-end compression test ensuring unused optional-chain expressions still keep base side effects after minification.

crates/oxc_minifier/tests/peephole/remove_unused_expression.rs Add regression test ensuring unused optional chaining doesn’t drop base side effects through the full compressor pipeline.

Currently
