@rakekniven why administration? |
The Nextcloud project wants to have a gender neutral speech. @jancborchardt Do we have a post or guideline to reference? |
Cool, I really didn't realize "administrator" was not neutral. Could you link the transifex issue in the PR? Or explain the reason behind it in the original post. |

you could also add the reason in the commit message. |

@rakekniven thanks
surprisingly those changes break some automated tests for the CI
I am having a look
I did not know either. 👀 To my memory, English has mostly lost the relevance of gendered nouns centuries ago in Middle English. I am not on topic of gender neutral speech in English, though, not even a native speaker. Is this really neutralizing or already neutral by today's standards? Just asking to improve my English skills. 😁 |

I assume this is related to the gender neutral language discussion from the forum. :)
Over there some time ago I did an assessment of what could be changed in the German translation, but also in the original (German post, translation is your friend ;):

In this case of "administrator" vs "administration" I’m not sure about changing it in English. From my feeling "administration" sounds a bit much like public administration as in government-related, but I’m not a native speaker.

would "team" be an appropriate word ?
I am not a native speaker and may also miss some cultural references |

I did some googling and bumped into this: I understand this as 'administrator' is inherently masculine. However https://deepgyan.com/english/grammar/nouns/feminine/feminine-of-administrator.php I don't know a thrust source to check this. |
