OK, that's fine for me. We probably need the same in the legacy code base as well. Or we move stuff to a subdirectory. But for now, we do this, I guess.

Yeah, moving it to subdirectory is a better choice so we can also get rid of name conflict between koreader-base dir and koreader-base binary!

In the long run, I'd like to ditch the koreader-base binary and provide a
plain LuaJIT. All extensions would go into separate libraries (*.so) and/or
be converted to use LuaJIT's FFI - but the latter is subject to discussion
and I'd like to give it a try first. But LuaJIT can make reaaaaally fast
code when the FFI is used - the JIT compiler will take that into account
and it's basically eliminating the overhead for Lua-to-C calls.
