Description of proposed changes
Revert "set matplotlib<3.5 temporarily due to upstream repo bug" as the upstream bug has been fixed ([Bug]: savefig pdf produces AttributeError: module 'unicodedata2' has no attribute 'ucnhash_CAPI' with matplotlib 3.5.0 matplotlib/matplotlib#21711).
