To avoid any future regression I'd much rather like a test that checks modified defaults don't impact further validations, like you did in your original issue.

Good idea! Just to be clear, should I add an additional test with those checks, or do you prefer me to change the current one? (maybe the title too?)

I augmented the current test with the additional check. Let me know if this works for you or I should change it further.
