Async only is by design. It was one of the complaints that led to Lab |

I changed the tests back to always use the async mode again. |

This adds support for pre-releases. Otherwise any module using this module breaks CITGM tests to verify if the module breaks in Node.js semver-major releases.
The tests had the async-only option set but all code is run sync, so I went ahead and changed that.
