Description
PR #182 added a menu "fallback" button to allow users of desktop environments without a system tray (e.g., newer versions of GNOME) to still access the system tray menu -- specifically, by clicking the gear/cog button in the bottom-right status panel. Presently, this button is displayed only in the event that a system tray is not present, however, it would be useful to always show this button for the following reasons:
- It improves discoverability, presenting a visually distinct button that users can more quickly identify and interact with.
- It improves consistency, providing a similar experience to GNOME users when using other desktop environments (and vice versa).
- It improves accessibility, making the menu available via a left-click on the button instead of a right-click on the tray (which has historically been discouraged on macOS given Apple's preference for "single-button" touchpads and pointer devices).
