It's been reported by several users that the ESB doesn't to work well and OSDs crash when enabled.

The bug is tracked in https://tracker.ceph.com/issues/70390

This is a temporary change in the default to avoid users being caught up inadvertently as recreating all the OSDs could be very painful.

Hi - shall we not leave this open until it's fixed - so we can be notified when a fix has been merged? I don't think the issue should be closed.

Hi Jeremy, the bug tracker is still open and will be closed only after the fix. This was a temporary workaround I proposed so that this could be disabled temporarily until it's properly fixed. I can leave this open if that helps. Thanks.
