cc @wgtmac @Fokko gentle reminder thanks! Was a bit uncomfortable having 1.16 snapshot still in master code since 1.16 is already released and new patches may still land on it until we merge this thanks!

@ArnavBalyan Thanks for raising this. 1.16 hasn't been released yet, and patches are actually still being backported to the branch. Once the release is out, we still need to:

• Bump previous version:

  parquet-java/pom.xml

  Line 88 in 2a58300

  <previous.version>1.15.1</previous.version>

• Update the docs to reflect the latest version: https://github.com/apache/parquet-java?tab=readme-ov-file#add-parquet-as-a-dependency-in-maven
