Summary

session.interrupt on session A was silently resolving pending clarify/sudo/secret prompts on ALL sessions sharing the same tui_gateway process. Other sessions' agent threads unblocked with empty-string answers as if the user had cancelled — cross-session corruption, no warning.

Root cause

_pending and _answers were globals keyed by random rid with no record of the owning session. _clear_pending() iterated every entry, so the session.interrupt handler had no way to limit the release to its own sid.

Changes

  • tui_gateway/server.py:
    • _pending now maps rid -> (sid, Event) tuples (was just rid -> Event).
    • _clear_pending(sid=None) filters by owning sid when sid is provided. _clear_pending(None) remains the shutdown path that clears everything.
    • session.interrupt passes its own sid so unrelated sessions are untouched.
    • _block and _respond updated to pack/unpack the tuple format.
  • tests/test_tui_gateway_server.py: 4 new regression cases.
  • tests/tui_gateway/test_protocol.py: 2 existing tests updated for the new tuple format.

Validation

Before After
session.interrupt on sid_a while sid_b has pending ev_b blast-set, answer forced to '' ev_b untouched
session.interrupt on sid_a with multiple own pending all released all released (unchanged)
_clear_pending(None) (shutdown path) releases everything releases everything (unchanged)
clarify.respond / sudo.respond / secret.respond worked works (new tuple format unpacked correctly)

Regression-guard validated: against unpatched server.py, the three new cross-session tests plus the response-unpack test all fail. With the fix, 4/4 pass.

Targeted: test_tui_gateway_server.py 37/37, tests/tui_gateway/ 41/41 — 78 total.

Live E2E against the live Python environment:

=== Patch verification ===
  session.interrupt scoped: OK
  _pending typed as (sid, Event) tuple: OK
  _clear_pending takes sid: OK
  filters by owner sid: OK

=== Cross-session blast scenario ===
  Before interrupt: ev_a.is_set()=False, ev_b.is_set()=False
  Interrupt sid_a result: {'status': 'interrupted'}
  After interrupt:  ev_a.is_set()=True, ev_b.is_set()=False
  answers:          rid-a='', rid-b='<not set>'

  Cross-session isolation: OK

  Shutdown path _clear_pending(None): ev_c=True, ev_d=True

Not in scope

The other remaining TUI HIGH — single-threaded RPC dispatch — is a larger change touching tui_gateway/entry.py and deserves its own PR.

…ng session

session.interrupt on session A was blast-resolving pending
clarify/sudo/secret prompts on ALL sessions sharing the same
tui_gateway process. Other sessions' agent threads unblocked with
empty-string answers as if the user had cancelled — silent
cross-session corruption.

Root cause: _pending and _answers were globals keyed by random rid
with no record of the owning session. _clear_pending() iterated
every entry, so the session.interrupt handler had no way to limit
the release to its own sid.

Fix:
- tui_gateway/server.py: _pending now maps rid to (sid, Event)
  tuples. _clear_pending takes an optional sid argument and filters
  by owner_sid when provided. session.interrupt passes the calling
  sid so unrelated sessions are untouched. _clear_pending(None)
  remains the shutdown path for completeness.
- _block and _respond updated to pack/unpack the new tuple format.

Tests (tests/test_tui_gateway_server.py): 4 new cases.
- test_interrupt_only_clears_own_session_pending: two sessions with
  pending prompts, interrupting one must not release the other.
- test_interrupt_clears_multiple_own_pending: same-sid multi-prompt
  release works.
- test_clear_pending_without_sid_clears_all: shutdown path preserved.
- test_respond_unpacks_sid_tuple_correctly: _respond handles the
  tuple format.

Also updated tests/tui_gateway/test_protocol.py to use the new tuple
format for test_block_and_respond and test_clear_pending.

Live E2E against the live Python environment confirmed cross-session
isolation: interrupting sid_a released its own pending prompt without
touching sid_b's. All 78 related tests pass.
