Friends of the Georgetown Public Library (FGPL) are a registered 501 (c) (3) organization separate from the Georgetown Public Library. The Friends advocate for the Library and raise funds for programming, book acquisitions, and general support. The Friends hold a yearly meeting in May to elect officers and board members.

Fundraiser Events:
- In-Library Book Sale – A selection of the big book sale everyday during library hours. (Upstairs to the left of the Non-Fiction Area)
- Adult Fiction Hardbound – $1.00 each or 3 for $2.00
- Toddler books (32 pages or less) – $0.10 each
- Everything else (DVDs, CDs, Audio Books, Large Print, Fiction Softbound, Non-Fiction, Early, Juvenile, Young Adult) – $0.50 each or 3 for $1.00
Membership Information
The yearly membership year for FGPL runs from May 1 to April 30 of the following year. Membership forms are available at the library or download a PDF:
Types of memberships include:
Student: $5 for one year, $20 for 5 years
Individual: $10 for one year, $40 for 5 years, or $100 for a life membership
Family: $15 for one year, $50 for 5 years, or $150 for a life membership
Benefactor: $25 for one year, $75 for 5 years, or $200 for a life membership
Business/Civic: $25 for one year, $75 for 5 years, or $200 for a life membership
Meeting Information
The Friends of the GPL meet the third Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. With the exception of August and December when no meeting is held.
The Friends of the GPL Annual Meeting will be Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.
Fundraiser Information
- The Brick Club is $150 for an honor or memorial brick to be placed on the library walkway. Forms are available at the library or fill out this PDF Form. Download, fill out, print and mail/drop off with payment.
- Delaware Gives is a year-round online fundraising and event registration platform powered by Spur Impact Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Delaware, as part of its Delaware Gives initiative. Nonprofits are encouraged to use the Delaware Gives platform throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for organizational specific events and fundraisers. Anyone can donate to their favorite participating nonprofits via DEGives.org.
- Book sales are held twice a year: Friends of the GPL Book Sale, Spring and Fall Dates: April 15-18, 2026 and October 7-10, 2026. On Wednesday evening the book sale is open to current Friends members only from 5-7 pm. Open to the public on Thursday 10 am – 7 pm, Friday 10 am – 5 pm, and Saturday 10 am – 12:30 pm.
- Sip’n’Shop: Friday, October 23, 2026 6-8pm.
- The Annual Georgetown Library 5k Race/Walk will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 at 6:30 pm. Registration forms are available at Town Hall, the Library, or at seashorestriders.com. Day of Registration from 5:30-6:15 pm.
