Genome2D, a MS Windows-based program for the visualisation of transcriptome and other customised data sets on linear chromosome maps constructed from annotated bacterial genome sequences. The program facilitates the analysis of bacterial transcriptome data by depicting differences in gene expression levels on a genome map. This enables visual inspection of the transcriptome data and will quickly reveal transcriptional units, and involvement of possible transcriptional operator sites. The program includes algorithms to extract such information. Images and data tables from Genome2D can easily be exported for further use in other presentation programs.
