A Brief History of Us

Geeks + Gamers began as a series of local gaming tournaments Jeremy held in 2012, which grew into this website and an incredible online community on Facebook. From there, Geeks + Gamers branched out into a YouTube channel after The Last Jedi divided Star Wars fandom. That spawned a whole YouTube network, from Park Hoppin’ to Sports Wars to Geeks + Gamers Play and even a Clips channel. Thanks to our community’s love and support and the hard work of our staff, Geeks + Gamers just keeps growing!

What is the 199?

“The 199” is a nickname for the Geeks + Gamers community that was formed from a meme. During a Geeks + Gamers Daily stream, a hater tried to insult Jeremy and Ryan, but mistakenly called the year 1999 “199.” The chat turned it into a meme, declaring themselves “the 199,” and history was made.

We want to be the go-to alternative hub for entertainment, pop culture, sports, and gaming.

What is IDOT?

IDOT is the official Geeks + Gamers mascot who, much like the 199, was born of a meme. During another episode of Geeks + Gamers Daily, another hater tried to insult the panel of Jay, Beardo, and Steph by calling them “IDOTS.” Another misspelling led to another chat-inspired meme, and we used that as the name our mascot, a mischievous little scamp who loves to dress up and adorns our merch.
