What is gamca Medial (now known as Wafid)?

WAFID, formerly known as GAMCA (Gulf Approved Medical Centers Association), is a mandatory medical examination system for individuals seeking employment, family or residency in GCC countries Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, and Bahrain. The WAFID program ensures that all expatriates entering these countries are medically fit and free from contagious diseases.

WAFID transitioned from GAMCA to a fully digital system to streamline processes and improve applicant experience. The official portal allows users to schedule appointments and check reports online without needing agents or physical follow-ups.

Importance of the WAFID Medical Report

The WAFID medical report serves as proof of an applicant’s physical and medical fitness before entering a GCC country. It’s a crucial document reviewed by immigration and labor authorities. If the report indicates that a person is unfit, they are typically not granted a work or residency visa.

Here’s why the WAFID medical report matters:

  • Health compliance with GCC public health standards
  • Eligibility verification for work permits
  • Detection of infectious diseases like TB, HIV, Hepatitis B & C
  • Ensures safety for both citizens and expatriates in GCC

Countries That Require WAFID Medical Test

The WAFID medical test is mandatory for the following Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Kuwait
  • Qatar
  • Oman
  • Bahrain
  • Yemen

All expatriates traveling to these countries for Work Visa, Family Visa, Dependent Visas, or long-term stays are required to undergo this examination.

Yes, but it’s not always guaranteed. You can:

  • Stay hydrated and get enough sleep
  • Disclose all medical history honestly
  • Avoid any form of substance abuse prior to test
