Welcome
The Gamble House (1908) is an internationally recognized masterpiece of the American Arts and Crafts movement. Built for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter and Gamble Company, the house is the most complete and original example of the work of architects Charles and Henry Greene. This Local, State, and National Historic Landmark is owned by the City of Pasadena and operated by The Gamble House Conservancy.

A 1-1/2 hour guided walk around the historic Arroyo Terrace neighborhood, a National Register historic district that’s home to nine Greene & Greene houses. This tour does not have interior access to any homes on the tour route.

This 45-minute tour is meant to introduce the house to children and their caregivers. Led by Pathway Docents (8th and 9th graders), all three levels of the house are explored as they ask questions and engage children of all ages. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

Tour Hours: We are open for tours on Tuesdays, and Thursdays through Sundays.
The only way to visit the house is on a tour. Advance reservations are recommended. Please check tour ticketing pages for times and availability.
Bookstore Hours: Tuesday & Thursday-Sunday, 10:00am-4:00pm
Parking: Free parking is available on Westmoreland Place in labeled spaces, directly in front of the house. Additional parking is available on Orange Grove Boulevard and West Walnut Street. On weekends, you may park in adjacent spaces designated for Westmoreland Academy. Please do not park in the parking lots to the north or south of the Gamble House or on Arroyo Terrace. Please read street signs for any parking restrictions.

Build with Side Street Projects this Spring Break in our mobile woodworking classroom! Find inspiration in the Gamble House’s Craftsman woodwork and create your own work of art. Open to ages 5 – 15, students will learn basic woodworking techniques using hand tools only, including drilling, setting screws, using clamps, hammering, and incising. How does the chiffonier designed by architects Charles Sumner Greene and Henry Mather Greene resemble a chest of drawers or Japanese tansu chest? Discover how the architects’ knowledge of woodworking and joinery are reflected in the design itself, and what elements are both ornamental and functional.

We invite you to bring a portable project to work on—whether it’s knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, drawing, coloring, watercolor, scrapbooking, collage, or any other craft. Dust Jacket Journeys: Grapes of Wrath
The Gamble House Book Club: THIS MONTH >> The Grapes of Wrath: Set during the Great Depression, The Grapes of Wrath focuses on the Joads, a family of tenant farmers driven from their Oklahoma home by drought, economic hardship, agricultural industry changes, and bank foreclosures forcing tenant farmers out of work. Due to their nearly hopeless situation, and in part because they are trapped in the Dust Bowl, the Joads set out for California on the Mother Road (Route 66), along with thousands of other migrant workers seeking jobs, land, dignity, and a future.
