This game is best experienced from the downloadable version you can find on this page. However, the only available version for download is Windows, due to a combination of RPGmakerMV being outdated and my lack of technical knowledge. The downloadable version can run in Linux using Wine/Proton, but Mac I'm not sure of.
The web version may have longer load times, instances of audio delays/desync, pop-ins and may be prone to other errors not present in the downloadable version. If you experience any issues please feel free to leave a comment with the problem and I'll do my best to fix it. I would recommend saving wherever possible in case of any unknown problems occurring.
Thank you for reading, enjoy the game!

Hello! Welcome to the page for my first game, Opus Torrentia!
"An unwritten story. Infinite possibilities before you.
How terrifying, yet, it's exciting, no?"
Choose to bear the Story Book and enter the world of Opus Torrentia. Bearing the book is as simple or complicated as you make it. Engage with the world, engage with the characters, and engage with yourself, and the story of the world will reveal itself to you progressively through passages that appear in your Story Book. Some people need your help, some people just need company. But what do you need?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Opus Torrentia is one of those surreal exploration RPGs with inspiration from the classics such as Earthbound and Yume Nikki. (it’s a quirky RPGmaker game, what do you want from me?) It has strange environments, interesting characters, collectables, costumes, problem solving, puzzles, minigames and secretssss!
Basically, it's a game where you do whatever you want in the world I made. The objective* is to complete 10 different questlines which each unlock a different section of the Story Book. Once you complete the book you get the ending of the game.
This game is what I call a “creative stream of consciousness”. Meaning, I mostly just keep building on the ideas I have with no particular end goal in mind. This game is a creative exercise, more than anything, for me to practice art and learn how to let go of my perfectionism. However, it’s not all about me! I still tried to make it enjoyable for others playing it and if weird RPGs are your thing I think you’ll enjoy the game.
Time to complete is 3-5 hours it seems.
*There is no true "objective" to Opus Torrentia, and I did not make the game with the intention of it being played to completion, rather to engage with the game as much as you like. However there is an ending for those who are thorough in their engagement as a reward, and it does shed some light as to what the game is about as well. So please play the game in whatever manner you find most enjoyable
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go experience the world. Learn and grow. Even when it is scary, even when it is fun.

I really enjoyed this game. Instant classic with such relatable themes, great music, and just a unique feel. Well done!
YAAAY that’s so nice!! I’m glad you liked it and thanks for including a screenshot, I like to see it with the custom names hehe
Thanks for playing!!
This was such a lovely game and I liked how the general idea of the creative process is explored through the worlds you visit and the passages you collect (like how you get ideas from personal experiences, how sometimes you reuse old concepts from abandoned projects and how, as an artist, you still wish to create and share your ideas to the world, even if the process is difficult). I especially loved reading the whole story book because I found it very relatable as an aspiring writer.
Overall, I had fun playing it and I hope to see more stuff like this in the future.
Awwww thanks so much for your comment!!! I’m so glad you could relate to the story as a creative person yourself, that makes me really happy… The creative struggle is something I’ve dealt with a lot and I’m sure most, if not all, other creators go through the same thing.
I’m glad you found it fun too!! More will be coming in the future, but probably nothing else made with RPG maker haha. At least not for a while..
Anyways, thanks again for your thoughtful comment, they really mean the world to me! :)
this is a really unique ynfg, and a really good one at that. as with most ynfg's, the music, visuals, and atmosphere was great, a light tone with no real danger or fear
but the quest system was really the cool part, i loved finding all the items and recognizing the hints for where to use them, and how sometimes the quests would intersect with each other (like giving the animal soul to the npc to get the passage of animal, which opens up a train station for the train quest). i also just think the hints were well designed, for almost all of them i was able to figure them out on my own with some exploring
it also just has a bunch of wacky and cool things that ive never seen in a ynfg before like the short rythmn game and crossword. and some silly references to other games like earthbound and FNAF, but they were done in a way that didnt break the immersion
also, i like that the dialogue and flavor text didnt break the immersion in the atmosphere either
finally, it's clear that this is a game with a lot of passion and personal meaning in it (i mean, it's literally about an artist trying to create art, pretty clear it's based on the creator's experience /pos), and it's nice to see this kind of story with a happy end. that the game is actually finished and i, a random player, enjoyed it a lot.
to quote the passages, i think that this game is definitely "something worth being proud of" :>
thoughhhhhh if i had to give one criticism, i think that the fishing spot at station 1 blends into the backround so much, i never noticed it and had to look up a guide to find it. also, i think it would've been a nice quality of life feature if the doors in the nexus had unique designs based on the worlds they lead to- even after my full playthrough, i only barely recognised which doors led where
but those are just minor things, this game is still really good!!!!
anyways um yeah sorry for the rambling, just wanted to review it, hehehe
Wow!! Thanks so much for your long thoughtful comment!
I like hearing about all the things you enjoyed and I'm really glad you like it ^_^
I'm happy you could appreciate the art and the messaging behind the game aswell.. yaaaay!
Sorry about the fishing spot being kinda hard to see, I was being a bit cheeky there heehee... The other ones were hard to find at some point too but I ended up making them all obvious because I didn't want to be too annoying, but I guess I missed that one...
Also, making the doors unique is a really good idea...... I'll admit I was getting lazy near the end of development and wasn't putting that level of detail into stuff anymore, but now that I've had some time to relax I canadd something like that for sure!
I'll plan to go back and make those changes in my next update then, so thanks for the suggestions!
awesome, glad i could give feedback! ^w^
This game is really good! There’s love, passion, and tons of effort seen in this game. This game reminds me of; as YNFG, Swan Song/Motel Snooze, having quests/side quests for the main goal of the game; as general in surreal exploration, games like HalOPE and/or Moon Remix RPG, where NPCs also explains the world like indirectly, and other more things. I also love the puzzle the game has as well, and as well the reward and message for completing the game. OST is also really good, and Pixel Arts! Instant chef’s kiss.
Again, a really cool game, probably one of the best games I played this month.
WOW thanks so much for your review and video!!!
It seems like you really understood the artistic aspect of the game because you’re spot on with what I was trying to achieve in your analysis.
Thanks for taking the time to play it, make a video and leave a thoughtful feedback! That makes me really happy 😃
I’m going to watch the video now!!
Yeah and thank you so much! Also I agree to the guy above. Also speaking of criticisms, one issue I have is certain areas, the font can just blend in some of the area’s colors, which I think I also mentioned in the commentary video.
(I apologize as well for certain times I had skill issues/brain farts throughout the playthrough.)
Also, one thing I will compliment, I think you managed to optimize the movies, especially RPGMV is known to like freeze movie bug, that still to this day, the cause of it is random. All of the movies played/looped with no issues, and can be repeated. So kudos as well for that one.
Anyway, future endeavors for your future works.
Yes, I watched about half of your playthrough so far and noticed you having issues with the font at times so I’m going to see what I can do with that. Also noticed quite a few typos as well in your playthrough! I’m keeping notes as I watch it for improvements I can include in the next update..
I’m going to finish watching your playthrough and have a new update out in a few days with some adjustments due to your feedback, so thanks again so much for it! Watching your playthrough has been a blast for me :)
wonderful little yume nikki type game, the enviroments and music are beautiful. id definitely highly recommend to people who like this style of game
Thanks sm for your review, I’m glad u like it!!!
awesome game!! finding the secrets and getting all the items, train station stamps, and passages was really fun. really love the art and music as well. the computer lab was my favorite. solving the crossword was really cool too, the fact that u made that in rpg maker is insane...
great work, and looking forward to your next game :)
Aww thx so much!! I’m glad u liked it hehe
