- We check the login and e-mail pair against the existing account data.
- If the data matches, a signed recovery link is sent to the stored mailbox.
- The new password is chosen only on the confirmation page. Nothing is mailed in plain text.

Recovery rules
- The form always returns the same success message so random guests cannot cleanly enumerate accounts.
- If the account has a secret answer configured, the confirmation page will require it too.
- The recovery request is throttled after repeated attempts from the same source.
- If the letter does not arrive, first check the account email and the spam folder.
