Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you need a resource that our library doesn't have, you may borrow it from another library through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

How to Request an Item

When requesting items for Interlibrary Loan (ILL), you can choose any one of the options below. Plan ahead! Your resource will be coming from another library that can be out of town or even out of the state and will need time to arrive to Edmund Stanley Library. Please allow one to four weeks for it to arrive.

Place an ILL request in one of the following ways:

Option 1.

WorldCat First Search:  Use WorldCat FirstSearch to search the collections of libraries worldwide. Once you find the item you want, click the ILL icon small hands clasping at the top of the page to submit your request.

Option 2.

Fill out a request form for loans/copies:

Form for physical items

Form for article and chapter requests

Note: These forms are also available at the Circulation Desk.

Option 3.

Email your request to ILL@friends.edu. Include your contact information and a complete citation of your request. Be sure to include the title, author, and format (book, CD, article, etc.) of your request. Make sure that you have the full journal name or ISSN for your article request.
