Free Cities Conference 2026

Early Arrival Day (for optional activities)

Arrival and settling-in day for early arrivals. This is an informal day designed for those planning to take part in the optional pre-conference activities on 1–2 September, or for anyone who prefers to arrive early, adjust to the setting, and get oriented in Próspera and St John’s Bay.

Optional Activities: Próspera Tour & Business Networking

The first day of optional pre-conference activities for attendees arriving ahead of the main event. Activities are still to be confirmed but may include a guided tour of Próspera's Beta District and a networking activity to help attendees get to know local, Próspera-based businesses. (Optional activities may involve additional costs.)

Excursions: Ciudad Morazán OR Roatán Outdoor Activities

Option 1: Ciudad Morazán Excursion (Honduran mainland)

EXCURSION DETAILS BELOW ARE PROVISIONAL AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Participants choosing this option will depart early in the morning. Attendees are picked up by bus from Duna Tower and Las Verandas at 05:30 and taken to the airport to catch the 08:05 (CM Airlines H53013) flight from Roatán to San Pedro Sula. Upon arrival, our team will arrange airport pickup and a guided tour of Ciudad Morazán — Honduras’s “blue-collar Free City”. Participants will have the opportunity to see the project firsthand, visit local businesses, and speak with residents with the assistance of a Spanish/English interpreter.

Participants will return to Roatán in the afternoon on CM Airlines flight H53010 departing at 15:55, arriving back at accommodation in Próspera at approximately 18:00.

Please note that attendees participating in this excursion are responsible for independently purchasing their own return flights between Roatán and San Pedro Sula. (It's also possible to meet us in San Pedro Sula directly if you are flying via the city on the way to Roatán.) The flight is operated by a small plane and seats are expected to sell out quickly, so we recommend booking early. In addition, a conference excursion ticket is required to cover airport transfers, lunch, and local guide fees. This ticket costs $250 and can be purchased through the Free Cities Conference website ticketing section. Please purchase flights before purchasing the excursion ticket to ensure flight ticket availablity.

Option 2: Roatán Outdoor Activities
For those remaining on Roatán, optional activities will take place in the island’s West End area. Activities on offer are still to be confirmed but are expected to include scuba diving over Roatán's famous coral reefs, a visit to see local wildlife at Gumbalimba Park, and local chocolate and rum tasting.

Arrival Day (for main conference)

Arrival day for attendees attending only the core conference days. The day is intended for settling in, informal exploration of Próspera and St John’s Bay, and connecting with other participants.

For those already in Roatán, there will be optional on site activities on offer (at attendees own expense). These will likely include championship golf in at Roatán's famous Black Pearl Golf Course and beack volleyball at Próspera's beach club and private beach in the afternoon.

In the evening the core conference program officially begins at 18:00 with a welcome drinks mixer. Attendees will be able to collect their conference passes and purchase food and drinks (not included in ticket price).

Keynotes, Presentations and VIP Dinner

The formal opening of the conference. Opening talks and main conference sessions will take place in the Infinita Dome and across the Beta District throughout the day. In the evening, a VIP dinner will be held near to Las Verandas for upgraded ticket holders. The VIP dinner will include our famous annual fundraising auction with Mark Edge and an exclusive comedy performance with "free thinking" comedian Lou Perez.

Presentations, Networking and Party

Starting from 10am there will be a full program talks, panels, and project-focused sessions in the Infinita Dome, alongside side events and smaller breakout discussions. The day concludes with an all-attendee drinks mixer with food (food and drinks not included in ticket price) in the evening follwed by a late night party.

Decentralised Day

Starting from 12 midday, we begin our "decentralised" programme with a mix of additional talks, workshops, and informal sessions. This day is designed to be flexible and participant-driven. Departure Day

Departure day for most attendees. No formal conference programming is scheduled in Roatán.

Optional Excursion: Ciudad Morazán Excursion (Honduran mainland)
On Monday September 7th, we are offering a second option to make a day-long excursion to Ciudad Morazán. Attendees choosing this option will depart early in the morning. Attendees are picked up by bus at 5:30 and taken to the airport to catch the 08:05 (CM Airlines H53013) flight from Roatán to San Pedro Sula. Upon arrival, our team will arrange airport pickup and a guided tour of Ciudad Morazán — Honduras’s “blue-collar Free City”. Participants will have the opportunity to see the project firsthand, visit local businesses, and speak with residents with the assistance of a Spanish to English translator.

Participants will return to Roatán in the afternoon on CM Airlines flight H53010 departing at 15:55, arriving back at accommodation in Próspera at approximately 18:00. Attendees who are not returning to Próspera after this excursion make their own way to the airport in San Pedro Sula for onward connections. It is also possible to stay overnight in Ciudad Morazán as a way of extending your stay in the zone. To book, please contact: ursula.frederick@morazan.city.

Extend Your Stay

For those who wish to stay longer, Roatán and Próspera offer plenty to explore beyond the conference. Attendees are welcome to extend their stay before or after the event, and longer stays may also benefit from reduced accommodation rates, particularly at on-site properties.
