So I've decided my crabiness over the past few days is due to me not writing nearly enough. I haven't sat down to write a short story in forever. Was just looking over my Writer's Cafe profile and realize I need to start doing it more. It seems finding the time to do it is the main problem. So hopefully I'll get more done. Also need to do my duty as Mike's temp agent and get his book up and going. This superhero craze isn't going to last forever. Will have to start doing that. So hopefully some new stories will be coming soon.

An irritating trend I see is people all of sudden going "Oh my god I am so happy to be an American right now. First time in 8 years." You should ALWAYS be happy to be an American. You should always love your country even when you don't love your government. The point of this country is that you have the right to question the government. You should LOVE the fact that you have that option at any point and love your country even during the bad times. Loving your country doesn't mean you agree with your government. Questioning your government is what America was based on. So enjoy the freedom. Not just when you're happy with your government. enjoy it all the time.

So Drunken Zombie's Double Creature Feature is a week away and we're super excited. Check out this promo for it I threw together and hopefully we'll see you there.

For those that want to read some of my writings check them out below:

Hey all.  Just wanted to give anyone in the Illinois area a heads up about a double feature screening that my podcast is hosting.  So check it out and be sure to stop by if you can and support it.
Flyer Under The Cut!!!!!!!Collapse )

So I'm sure everyone heard the crazy news today. I mean it's not a surprise. It's been shaky for awhile. People hadn't really been confident in it for awhile. But I mean you know you would figure the slump would end and everything would be okay. Hmmm? Merril Lynch? Lehman Brothers?  What the hell is that? I'm talking about the announcement that MTV is canceling TRL.

Good Bye And Thanks For Carson Daley (sarcasm)
I guess all I had to do was post about wanting a confirmation and WALA an email hits my inbox. CONFIRMED! Drunken Zombie is OFFICIALLY hosting a low budget horror double feature at Willow Knolls Theater here in town on October 9th. The films being screened are IT'S MY PARTY AND I'LL DIE IF I WANT TO and ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. We're hoping to have time for some short films between the movies and some low budget trailers. It sounds like it's going to be a great time.
Just sent off a bunch of emails for Drunken Zombie for our event in October that I still can't say much about until the date we want is confirmed. Damn people. Need my date, yes or no. But I've been slacking with DZ stuff lately so i need to get back up there. trying to throw some stuff to the other guys so I don't get overwhelmed. Hopefully soon I can just announce on here what it is. We're only a month away so some confirmation can throw this thing into over drive. Damn it. Hurry.
So it has come to my attention that people have no idea what the spaghetti cat is. It's freakin hilarious. So here is Joel McHale from The Soup explaining the greatness that is Spaghetti Cat:

For Matt

My cousin's funeral was today. Guh. I hate the damn things but it seems like i am going to more and more lately. I was feeling pretty okay with the whole thing but as expected today was not great. Just being with everyone made me think about it to much. Most people that know me will tell you that I have had a crappy life just with how things around me were set up. But when I think about Matt I thought about how his was even worse than mine. He had problems with his ears ever since he was little so he was hard of hearing. His parents divorced and he was always moving around with his mom. Then she died and when the person you are around the most leaves then that hits you really hard. He had a daughter when he was pretty young. Didn't get along with the mom to well so that whole connection was always a little hard. And over the last year or so he got really depressed and had to go to the psyche ward as a suicide watch. But he was turning everything around. He had a decent job, was beginning to finally be happy with his life. And now he's gone. Being back in the small town our grandmother lives in and that he lived in for many many years it brought back a flood of memories today. Me and him were about 3 years apart so we were together a lot when we were younger. After my brother was born it was pretty much those two together so we lost touch. But I knew what he was up to and loved seeing his daughter when I got the chance. The last time I really remember seeing him was at my sister's graduation three years ago. we stood there and just chatted about nothing in particular while Megan walked across the stage. But I was happy to hear about all that he had overcome in the last year. I was happy for him. It seems odd to overcome so much only to be taken away from your 4 year old daughter. I don't get it but I guess I don't have to. I am sad for Addriane. She is only 4 so I'm sure that this whole thing hasn't made the most sense to her but hopefully someday she'll realize that her dad was a great guy who had some problems but dealt with them as best as anyone could expect. I feel bad for my grandma who has had to bury her daughter and now her grandson. Seems unnatural for that to happen. No one expects being the one left to pick up the pieces of their children's lives. While I didn't have a day to day relationship with Matt we both knew where we came from and that at the end of the day if something were to happen we'd have each other's backs. That's what family does. Matt, I already miss you. You left to early. Hopefully now your mind will be at peace and maybe you can help guide your daughter now. She's going to need all the love she can get. Thank you for the laughs, thanks for the tears, and thanks for being part of my life.

Nice to know after a whole year that some people still feel the need to make fun snide comments about other people even after attempts to at least be civil. Good times.

**Update: I sometimes read to much into things and after a quick explanation that I understand things are fine.**

vote for Hopscotch

The fine fellas over at Scotchworthy Productions have a new short film in a competition for Project Breakout. If you can head on over, give it a watch, and if you like what you see throw it some votes.

Sappy

Since I'm in a sappy mood here's a video I saw on the news yesterday. Watch it. I got a little teary eyed.
So more details. I guess my cousin was working and had a harness on. He was trying to adjust it or something and they put a ladder up for him but he still tried to stretch over or something and the ladder slipped and he fell about 4 stories. Guh. All I've had going through my head is memories of us when we were younger. Thanks for all the well wishes. Makes me smile.
For the latest episode of Drunken Zombie we review the dreadfully boring Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter. Sigh. More important Dave and Randy have their debate over Science Fiction. Dave says it's awesome. Randy says it's garbage. So stop by and check us out. Stop in our forums and say hi. And if you have a Twitter account feel free to add us.

Just got a phone call from my mom. One of my cousins died. He was working construction in North Carolina and I guess fell off the building he was working on. Me and him were pretty close when we were younger but hadn't talked much since I hit high school. But it makes me sad. His mom died when he was really young and I don't think he ever really got over it. And now he has a little girl that is missing her dad.

First day of shooting went surprisingly well. Got everything in that I wanted to plus some extra stuff we came up with on set. You sometimes hear of unruly cast members or crew members on small stuff like this but we were smooth sailing all the way. So now all we have left is a 3-4 hour shoot next Sunday and we're done. Then into editing. Sigh. I am exhausted though.

May. 18th, 2008

Wish me well. Tomorrow is the first day on my short film shoot. Hopefully we'll get most of it done tomorrow and then we'll be shooting again next Saturday. Hope it all turns out like it should. We'll see.
just some pictures for you all since no one has seen my nephew in awhile. He's getting cuter every day I swear.

Just spent some time working on the script for my short film Shadows. Shaping up pretty good. Got my shooting date about 97% locked in. Just waiting for my DP to get back to me on his schedule for that weekend. My actors are ready and seem to be excited. Nice that I'll be getting one of the big DON'TS in film out of the way in my first project. Got a 9 year old boy in the cast list for a majority of the shoot. Here's to hoping it turns out well.

Are you fucking kidding me? Really EVERYTHING has to be remade? EVERYTHING. Cause we're to that point now where everything has been remade. Short F'ing Circut is now being remade. That movie doesn't need to be remade. At all. Read for yourself.

Top Ten Historically Inaccurate Movies

Mar. 18th, 2008

Sigh. So I pretty much was in line to at least make it to the next round of the Massify contest but in the last half an hour people just got to far ahead of me and i ended up at 14th place. 4 spots to far back. Part of me is really annoyed as I know that my production value was much much better than most in the top ten. But as someone said earlier it wasn't about the quality of the work it was pretty much a popularity contest. And well I guess some people have more friends than I do. I watched as a lot of the people on that site would Friend with like 20 people a day. I didn't Friend people every day for the sake of trying to get votes. I campaigned on the site don't get me wrong. But I wasn't about to be fake friends with someone just for votes. So I guess the fact that I got all the way up to second place for awhile and ended up in 14th place on that merit alone should make me happy.

I want to tell myself that I'll just make the film myself but really I was kind of happy that with this I just got to make the story up and let someone else hash out the expensive details. Who knows. Maybe I will finally one day do something with it but until then I'm putting Scary Mary on the back burner and focusing on other things.

Last Day

Well it's the last day of voting for the top ten. We're still in contention of being in the top ten by the end of tonight. So if you haven't voted or can get others to vote now is the time. So PLEASE help m out and go vote and get others to vote.

Your Vote Matters!!!

Alright folks. We've broken into the top ten. But we need to stay there. We have a whole week before this round of voting is over. So a nice vote cushion would be great. So if you haven't voted go vote now. If my pitch wins it will be released as one of the 8 Films To Die For next fall. Even if it gets made and you guys don't like it then you can at least complain to the guy responsible for it. When has that ever happened before. Help make this OUR movie. I post around here all the time so I'll be able to update everyone on the making of the movie, the process, and can take your complaints. So if anyone could help me out that would be awesome. Head on over, watch the trailer, and vote. Thanks guys.
