USCAP University Partnership Program (U²P²)

About The Program

Introduced in 2025, the USCAP University Partnership Program (U²P²) is an initiative of the USCAP Foundation designed to strengthen global pathology education through academic collaboration. Through this program, training institutions will host a visiting pathologist from an under-resourced country for a four-week observership, beginning immediately after the USCAP Annual Meeting.

The USCAP Foundation will fully fund all travel, lodging, and program-related expenses, reaffirming its commitment to fostering international learning and advancing the field of pathology worldwide.

Application Timeline

  • The USCAP Foundation operates on a two-year planning cycle.

  • We are not accepting applications for visiting pathologists for the March 2026 USCAP Annual Meeting in San Antonio at this time. Applications for 2027, will open at the end of November for eligible Global Partner award recipients.

  • Host applications for future years will open in the Spring of 2026. Due to the competitive nature of the program, early submissions are strongly encouraged. The Foundation is actively building a pool of qualified host institutions to be considered for both current and future program cycles. We strongly encourage any interested institutions to apply and indicate the year(s) they would be willing to participate.

  • Selected institutions will be notified at least 12 months in advance of the observership start date.

    Selection Process

    • Only 1–2 visiting pathologists are selected each year.

    • Recipients will be selected exclusively from the pool of Global Partner Travel Awardees chosen for that specific year. Applications for the 2026 Global Partner Travel Awards are now closed.
    • All applications are reviewed by the Foundation Committee.

    • Host institutions are matched with visiting pathologists based on predefined criteria, including Global Partner subspecialty interests.

    • Host institutions will be notified about their selection and the visit coordinated with the USCAP Foundation Committee and staff.
