Aluminum Fuels
Aluminum is the world’s first truly rechargeable fuel: abundant, energy-dense, and endlessly reusable. Building on breakthrough work pioneered at NASA and MIT, Found Energy has developed a proprietary treatment process that disrupts aluminum’s native oxide layer, enabling it to react rapidly and completely with water through a mechanism called fractal exfoliation. This highly exothermic reaction releases aluminum’s stored energy as both high-grade heat and hydrogen gas, creating a powerful, transportable energy carrier. The output of Found’s reactors is ideal for industrial cogeneration, helping address the roughly 30% of industrial energy demand that remains difficult or uneconomic to electrify.
Catalyzed Aluminum-Water Reactors (CAWR)
Found Energy develops catalyzed aluminum-water cogeneration systems that integrate directly into existing industrial infrastructure to deliver reliable, behind-the-meter heat and power. By converting aluminum fuel and water into dispatchable thermal energy and hydrogen at the point of use, our reactors provide a resilient alternative to fossil combustion without requiring a full overhaul of legacy facilities.
