A few years ago, we dismissed tools like Lumion or D5 as "architect tools" not suitable for high-end visualization studios.
But looking at the recent updates of D5 Render, the ray-tracing quality is getting dangerously close to offline renderers, with a fraction of the render time.
My question is about reliability in large scenes. We handle masterplans with heavy vegetation and thousands of proxies. Can D5 handle the massive scattering and instability of a 50GB scene file like Max+ForestPack can?
Would love to hear from studios who have actually delivered major commercial projects solely using D5.
