The only other one I can think of is Purifier (bastard sword), but it comes rather late in Watcher's Keep, unless you cheese a little and skip ahead.
-
A long sword? Which one? The only one I can think of that might fit the bill is Daystar.
-
If I'm giving flails to Minsc, though, why would the PC take them? There's only a few good ones in the game, right?

Jah is one of my favorite characters, gameplay-wise. She's quite versatile (sword and board, two handers, dual wield). I've experimented with all of them and ultimately landed on starting her with staves and darts/slings, then 2h weapon, then spears and slings/darts. I pick her up ASAP, then shadowkeeper her starting pips…

I'm theorizing right now, but considering this run. Traps are an annoyance, though, and I would prefer to have a plan to manage them. I wouldn't mod them out (to cheaty for me), and would prefer to save limited charge items (potions/rings of invisibility) for tough fights. I know you can sell almost drained items to…

Yeah, that's the thing. I stopped pillaging houses a long time ago. Even without that, I end up with WAY more swag than I need anyway. I'm currently running a full party, fully tooled up near the end of BG1, no farming, and with 150kgp in the bank. However, I'm now starting to question if I should even be in these houses.…

I choose four because that's my preference. More than that tend to be cumbersome with pathfinding, negotiating small spaces, and other babysitting. That being said, I tend to play BG1 with the full (canon) party and BG2 with five, rotating random NPCs in the last slot, just for their quests. Once those are done, I just…

Well, it's not so much about strength as it is fun factor. Between the two, I would think the question is if sacrificing some higher level mage spells for a full complement of cleric spells is more fun, and does the fun of wild surges (if you consider them fun) and more higher level mage spells make up for the extra…

I was not aware of this thread until recently and actually managed to catch up on all 193 pages, which took me a week of doing it bit by bit. I wanted to make a meme of Ruben's "Jesus Christ on the Cross" with a caption of "The pain should only be passing, you should survive the process". I figure, if you're Christian,…

So, I can't bring along another thief without dropping party members and I'm playing with the canon party. There's just no space. I have to work out her down time around the course of the game. There is a sizable chunk where you can get by without a thief (i.e. all the wilderness zones). I just need to figure out the best…

Whenever I take Khalid, I make him an archer, every time. He's actually really good at it and racks up a higher percentage of kills than anyone else. He also hits level 7 in BG1, and can hit 3 APR. And he's a machine gun with 6APR if you use an oil of speed. That's pretty boss for BG1. The C/T was considered. It does have…

Really? I want to multi a cleric (as in the ranger)? I figured single would be better so I can be strong with turn undead (and eventually explode them). Besides, do I need two clerics if I'm going to dual the fighter? Also, why a fighter/druid over a plain one? I figure I have a strong frontline with the paladin, ranger,…

I do have Jah, but she only gets two spells of that level. I usually get one Iron skins and one IP. So, unless I want to rest after every mage battle, I get one shot at that. However, it does have a save vs. breath. It's still pretty useful, but only a partial solution. This also turns into a needing to rest after every…

I kinda don't want to up the difficulty, because I think that might make things worse. It's already annoying enough that every fight is starting with mages having a contingency with every abjuration under the sun, and so (for each mage!) I have to RRR, followed by maybe/possibly warding whip, then a breach, which will then…

I have Jah, Minsc, Imoen, and a cleric/mage.

I think a problem combo (and pretty popular) is PFMW, protection from normal missiles, and stoneskin. throw a spell trap on that (or some other high level uber-protection bullshit) and it nerfs my mages, too. I do carry around an extra (normal) club for jah and a couple of (normal) morningstars for minsc, but with that…

I think in this case, Jah makes the better tank because even though her strength isn't the greatest, she has better Dex and a sword and board combo can work pretty well with her. As for Minsc, he's built to DW (high strength and free pips), so a shield would be a waste (as well as having lower dex). You can build either…

Fair point, and that's largely why I'm looking into these two options. I think they both are pretty neck and neck conceptually. On one hand, I see the C/I being better fit with having been raised in CK. On the other hand, putting a C/R in a party with a F/D and Ranger also plays to a theme more so than the C/I.…

My favorite thief is Jan, but I usually end up going with Yoshimo due to the story line.
-
But back to the topic at hand, I'm still on the fence (and the 50/50 split on the poll isn't helping  ). With the C/R, I can have him tanking with flails and maces (twf or sword and board when needed), minsc with axes and swords, and jah in the second line with staves and spears. This pretty much covers all the…

That's actually a good idea. However, I'll leave her as is. As far as elves go, she's one of the good ones.
-
tbh, I'd probably use Shadowkeeper to change the race to halfling anyway. I really don't like elves.

I'm less concerned with raw power, and more concerned with team synergy. Also, I'm playing the GoG version, so I have all the druid spells, FWIW.

I really don't want to put the effort into modding. I haven't done it on this game and am not willing to learn at this point. I know that Tymora and Lathander have a friendly relationship, but it's nothing special. Lathander and Chauntea, sure. Tymora and Brandonbaris, why not? But Lathander and Tymora are just two dieties…

So the party is just Jah, Minsc, Yoshi, and myself (C/T). I was tempted to make Minsc a tank, but with DW and his strength, he's much better at a DPS role, whereas Jah has a lot more defensive capability. Actually, I think with her buffs, she might even make the best general use tank in the game.
-
I don't think it was supposed to be as hard as it was the first time around. I was probably underbuffed for attempt 1, had a bug for attempt 2, and attempt 3 was super easy (though a little cheesy, but I don't have a lot of patience for glitches and I'm just trying to finish this run so I can import to BG2).

Finally beat him, basically with just my C/T, but had to cheese through it. I worked the edges of the room taking out the cultists with a sling and wand of the heavens. After that, potion of mirrored eyes and magic blocking, clarity (just to be safe), then burned through a few charges of the staff of striking and and a…
-
ok, part 2, everyone gets mirrored eyes plus same buffs as above. I take out the cultists, focus on the demon, it stays at "Near Death" fooooooooreeeeeeeveeeeer, while Khalid is peppering it with arrows. It just won't die. Eventually, mirrored eyes wears off and we're back to everyone dying (just a little slower this…

I don't mind "cheating" to adjust her pips to something that fits the concept. She starts out with 2** in clubs when I get her in BG1 and (for classic) that means no enchanted weapons until BG2. Being my tank, she needs something that's going to pack a little more punch than an unenhanced d6. If I put her to spears, the…
