Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and driven Dairy Application Technologist (f/m/x) with R&D experience to strengthen our Food R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing and developing dairy applications using our innovative protein ingredients. You will take ownership of lab-scale prototyping, contribute to customer-facing activities, and work cross-functionally with Bio R&D and Commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, produce, and analyse dairy prototypes at lab scale using our innovative protein ingredients
Test ingredient functionality across various dairy applications and evaluate performance
Document experiments thoroughly, interpret results, and derive clear technical recommendations
Translate customer needs into functional prototype solutions
Provide technical guidance and application expertise to customers
Support and contribute to customer workshops and co-creation sessions
Communicate results, insights, and recommendations to R&D and Commercial teams
Contribute ideas to continuously improve application processes and workflows
About You
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Beverage Technology, or a comparable field or completed vocational training as “Milchtechnologe” / “Molkereifachmann” (m/w/d) or equivalent food-technical qualification
At least 3 years of professional experience in product development, application testing, or ingredient evaluation, ideally within the dairy industry
Experience in development and/or industrial production of dairy products
Strong hands-on, pragmatic working style with a passion for working in the lab
Experience in customer interaction and translating customer needs into prototype solutions is a plus
Passion for dairy products and high level of engagement, initiative, and independent working style
Fluent in English

Key Responsibilities
Execute and lead upstream bioprocess operations at the 100L pilot-plant scale, including setup, operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Design and run pilot-scale experiments to support scale-up, process characterization, and transfer readiness.
Identify and mitigate scale-up and transfer risks related to process parameters, equipment, and raw materials.
Prepare and maintain upstream process and technology transfer documentation (e.g., process descriptions, batch records, SOPs, protocols, and reports).
Support technology transfer activities with CMOs/CDMOs, including remote or on-site technical support during engineering or GMP runs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical progress and risks.
About You
M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical/Bioprocess Engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of hands-on upstream bioprocess experience at pilot scale (>10L; 100L preferred).
Experience with microbial or mammalian upstream processes.
Prior involvement in process or technology transfer to CMOs/CDMOs is strongly preferred.
Strong technical documentation, hands-on mentality and excellent communication skills.
Experience with ELNs and process risk assessments is a plus.
Adaptability, and consistent drive for process excellence.
Willingness to travel to support external manufacturing partners when required.

Perform quantitative and qualitative analytical assays to support process development and optimization.
Accurately document experimental work and maintain well-organized laboratory records.
Support troubleshooting of experiments and contribute to the optimization of laboratory techniques and workflows.
Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks, including cleaning, organizing equipment, and maintaining workspaces.
About You
Completed training as a technical assistant (e.g., BTA or equivalent) or a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
Prior hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment.
Solid knowledge of common biotechnological techniques and standard laboratory methods (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Bradford assay, LAL assay, colorimetric assays, reagent preparation).
Experience in downstream processing and protein purification is an advantage.
Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Strong attention to detail, ability to learn quickly, and contribute proactively to team-based problem solving.
