Forest Learning Alliance (FLA) is a career stage CPD provider for educationalists and support staff covering all phases and settings. We work with an Alliance of schools, and other educational professionals across Berkshire and the South of England.
In 2021, FLA attained Delivery Partner status with Education Development Trust for the Early Career Framework programme and Ambition Institute for National Professional Qualifications. This ensures the FLA continues to provide high-quality professional development and nationally recognised qualifications as well as maintaining oversight of the government’s implementation of the ‘golden thread’ for professional development and ownership of local deliver for Alliance members and beyond.
Since 1st June 2024 Forest Learning Alliance became The Keys Academy Trust’s (TKAT) Centre of Professional Growth and Excellence and are proud to support the talent management and professional growth of all staff.
We are an official Delivery Partner for the following National Lead Providers, providing their programmes to all phases and settings:
- Education Development Trust (EDT): Early Career Framework
- Ambition Institute: National Professional Qualifications
- Leading Learning South East (LLSE): National Professional Qualifications International delivery
We work with University of Reading in delivering our primary phase ITE programme.

FLA is governed by the Local Board of Governors based at Uplands Primary School and Nursery as part of the wider TKAT Governance structure. They are a diverse group of people, all volunteers, with a common interest in the FLA and its lead school and nursery, its staffing, professional development offer, and schools within its Alliance. Each Governor brings different strengths and skills to the Governing Board, but all have a commitment to helping the FLA.
The Governing Board committee meets at least 3 times each year. Currently meetings are held on a Tuesday at 7pm.
Governors focus on three core functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding FLA Leadership to account for the performance of the professional development provision, and the management of its delivery partners
- Overseeing the financial performance of the FLA.
To help steer these core functions, there are strategic partnerships that feed into the governance and planning of FLA services.
