Small businesses are essential and critically important to Fresno’s regional economy. The Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Merriwether & Williams Insurance Services and Access Plus Capital have developed the Bonding, Technical Assistance, and Contracting program (BTAC) which is an ecosystem of comprehensive contractor related services to address the barriers that small and emerging contractors face in bonding, access to capital, and business development.
BTAC currently has two programs 1) Pathway to Contractor’s License, an educational program instructed by industry professionals designed for those in the construction trades with experience seeking to obtain their construction contractor’s license and ready to begin a contractor business, 2) Contractor’s Academy is a program designed also led by industry professionals that provides critical trainings that will assist contractors in gaining best practices for their business. Both these programs are provided twice a year to those eligible that begin with an application and an individualized assessment and one on one consultation in business and finance to understand the needs in growth and development. Program participants will work closely with a team of financial and business consultants to develop work plans for building capacity.
We highly encourage veteran, women, Black, and minority owned contractors and those in trades seeking to start or grow a business including networking, professional development, and access to technical assistance opportunities to apply to the program. For any questions, please contact Ana Pano, BTAC program manager at Ana@fmbcc.com or call the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce at 559-441-7929.
