The height(NAVD) of the Wrightsville reservoir is currently at 682.91 feet. The record Wrightsville reservoir height was at 683.89 feet last night for this current flooding event.

This is another community that is already suffering from floods along the Winooski river. If water outflow from the Wrightsville reservoir is increased or the dam is compromised communities along the Winooski river will see increased flooding. I’m seeing reports that the rain will start between 1600EST and 1800EST today. The rain is predicted to be heavy & light, off & on for the next 4 days.

I read about this dam on NBC. Not very informative. So I did a search. Still little details. The “abnormalities” The dam experiencing problems due to Monday’s deluge that went up through Montpelier causing flooding problems and the Wrightsville dam difficulties.

It rained last night in the central Vermont area up through and past Montpelier. The rain will continue today. We didn’t have our normal wet Spring(mud season) this year. Maybe Vermont is seeing the normal wet Spring in the Summer this year.

Instead, they want to calm nerves by showing the peaceful fishing. 🐑Go to sleep people.😴No problem here. How is the police keeping people from the gates going to protect the Emergency Spillway, which is on the side of the dam? Problems could occur when the northern Midwestern floodwaters get down to the south central US.

Hurricane Beryl’s path has been shifted to make a Houston, Texas landfall on 7 July. The extra rainwater will certainly be a burden for Lake Livingston and the spillway. The path has shifted from a northern Mexico strike to a San Antonio,Texas strike, to now a Houston, Texas landfall. Keep an eye out for additional changes to the hurricane path.

The path and speed of hurricane Beryl has changed a little. The hurricane is predicted to slow before entering southern Texas by Accuweather. So now we’re looking at more moisture and a little higher strength. The 2nd storm moves into Houston from the Gulf of Mexico 2 days later. These 2 storm systems are going to be a burden for Lake Livingston, which will be challenged to take on the rain from both storms.

Somehow they must be keeping the inflows low with the extensive water control system they’ve set up. That will last only so long. I think they’re on the edge of losing control. I am concerned that the unprotected other side of the Main Spillway is vulnerable to water seepage. That might be a reason they are dramatically lowering the reservoir level.”

He said lake is about 340 acres according to Wikipedia. Last week this Kentucky lake flooded and the dam was seeping. The seepage has stopped this week. The dam is deteriorating.

The dam is 88 feet tall and they’ve installed a 2 foot temporary extension on the dam, which makes the dam 90 feet tall. The current reservoir height is 83 feet. This Dam’s watershed is large and more rain is expected. This same system will move to Oregon, Washington State, and Southwest Canada this coming Monday.
