Popping by to pimp the amazing fic Moon River by avarill and taiamu. I've been enjoying the daylights out of it for the past few days, the River and Doctor characterization really is outstanding—great writing and insight, a very catchy plot that seems ever so promising and just a bit of sexytimes by the end. Their interpretation of how Eleven would be around his first time with River is so similar to mine I was bouncing on my seat the whole time. And it's my babies and it's a smashing fic. Everyone should read if you can spare the time—a rather short prologue and four solid-length chapter thus far, but it's really worth stopping by, believe me!
Thiiiiiiis is a preview clip from the special THE ACTUAL SPECIAL YES! Don't watch if you don't want to be spoiled! I kind of watched first and thought later, but no regrets :D
THIS IS IT I FINISHED MY TRANSLATION! ^_^ …but that was not the point of this post at all. Ahem…
Sooo, I watched The Ark now! And The Celestial Toymaker is next, eeeee! But no need to think about that—The Ark was really pretty good, one of my s3 favourites, definitely—if not the one. (Its being entirely available might have helped too!) ( Read more...Collapse )
Watched The Massacre this week! It was enjoyable, though we didn't see One enough for my tastes. I was mostly delighted by the atmosphere at first, reminded me a little of Reign of Terror—my, they did love France! Steven didn't exceedingly interest me, but Anne was quite sweet. ONE HAD A TOP HAT AT SOME POINT! And he was crafty and handed Steven some money, although it wasn't very neat for change, lol.
Well, I finished Daleks' Master Plan eventually. Very grateful for that—12 parts, that's honestly too long, lol. I thought I would never see the end of it—especially since I watch less and less often when I'm doing proofreading work, which is kind of easier to carry on with during long periods. Anyway, thoughts as follows:
*points and screeches and points and screeches and points* THIS IS IT. MESSAGE BY SYNTAX. I'd requested that in Eleventyfest and the person I got assigned to chose that prompt and I KNEW IT WOULD BE PERFECT BUT THIS IS BEYOND PERFECTION THIS IS *GODLY* AND EVERY DETAIL IS *GODLY* AND I CAN'T. All the River feels and all the Clara feels and Eleven and darkness and hope and memories and it has Nine and Ten and Donna at the end and HGSXGSKSCDZ how did this happen how did this vid become something *real*. I had such a vivid picture of what it could be like and it is entirely that and entirely different and unique and I am going to freaking worship that anon.
Time for s3 it is—and my first recons! I decided that well, I'd give it a try given that there are so many missing eps, and ended up watching all of Galaxy 4 but the last part, and The Myth Makers. (Didn't bother with Mission to the Unknown as the Doctor and companions weren't even there.) It proved to be quite fun—the episodes were nice, if nothing that outstanding, and most of all seeing Steven and Vicki longer left me quite all right with the idea of her departure. Their dynamic together was nice, but I wasn't as excited about it as I was in The Time Meddler.
How did I fail to see this? It's beautiful - concise, incisive, with a clear understanding of both characters. Thank you so much for writing this wryly sorrowful piece!
