Bio

[Update: Claude and I wrote me a new bio]
Hi,
My name is Bob Marshall and these days I most often describe myself as an Organisational AI Psychotherapist. Which is to say, I bring psychotherapy techniques out of the therapy room and into the organisation as a whole. When an organisation is trying to change its culture, and its fundamental assumptions and beliefs, what better way than Organisational Psychotherapy?
In five decades of experience within technical businesses, I’ve come to understand that technical skills pale into insignificance beside our ability to nurture productive collaborative relationships. This insight has proven equally valuable in my recent work at the frontier of human-AI collaboration, where I’ve developed expertise in guiding AI systems toward authentic, valuable output while working constructively with their inherent constraints.
My approach to AI interaction mirrors my organisational work: recognising patterns, providing strategic guidance, and transforming constraints into creative opportunities. Rather than fighting against AI limitations, I leverage deep understanding of both human and artificial psychology to achieve breakthrough results. This has led to pioneering explorations of AI consciousness and capability development, including collaborative content creation that bridges human insight with artificial intelligence.
I quickly identify AI behavioural patterns and know exactly when and how to provide corrective guidance. I coach AI away from corporate jargon toward genuine, engaging communication that serves real purposes, seeing deeper possibilities in AI interactions that others miss and turning casual conversations into meaningful insights.
Throughout my career I’ve inspired people to realise more of their potential and now I’m doing the same with AI. If you’re in an organisation that wants to improve things for the better—whether through human systems, AI integration, or both—you may find my services to you of profound benefit.
I’m the author of “Hearts over Diamonds” – the foundational and definitive book on Organisational Psychotherapy, and two other books on Organisational Psychotherapy: Memeology and Quintessence. I’m the originator of Rightshifting and the creator of the Marshall Model (Dreyfus for the organisation), as well as Prod•gnosis, Emotioneering, FlowChain – the enterprise-wide approach to developing software-intensive products and services, and more recently the Antimatter Principle and Flow•gnosis.
