the plot yesterday I noticed that I must have missed lifting a couple of potatoes back in August as foliage has appeared. I’ll leave it to grow and see what happens. I may be lucky and get some fresh out the ground potatoes for Christmas.

The white Meadowsweet is looking good with its golden-yellow leaves.
I’ve not dead-headed it this year as I’ve learnt that goldfinches like the seeds. I would be well pleased if I saw one on it.
Here’s another picture of the eye-catching Pot Marigold Oopsy Daisy in the black plastic half-barrel container by the shed.

Here was some heavy rain during last night and the ground is now rather soggy so I’m not plotting today. Hopefully during the coming week I can make a start on cutting back the stems on the three clumps of blue asters/Michaelmas Daisies which have now finished flowering.
Have a good week, and take care!
November 2nd and you have potatoes leafing out, pot marigolds in bloom! It would be a pleasure to see a goldfinch enjoying the meadowsweet seeds. Let’s hope for that! Liz

Truly nice to see the Marigolds still beaming. I like the look of the Meadowsweet, there is something rather delicate and gentle about it.
when you plot, it’s obvious that you think carefully where to position your plants in the main plot, as well adding to the available spaces surrounding it. Would complementary be an appropriate description for it?

I enjoy seeing “missed” potatoes sprout in the spring and give me early new potatoes long before the properly planted ones are ready!

Vero yes I do too, and I now wonder if I’ll see any next spring. xx

I always miss a few potatoes when digging them up. If you want to eat them for Christmas dinner put a stick in the soil to show where they are coming up in case the frost kills them and you can’t find them!

Cathy I think that most of us do. That’s a good idea. Thanks. xx

That would definitely be a surprise potato!
I like the contrast of the pot marigolds in that black pot. Oopsy Daisy is a good color mix. I just discovered I’ve got a packet of it ready for spring sowing.
