Mostly tomatoes

It’s been a good year for tomatoes  and I’ve been picking plenty of fruit all month.  I’ve grew three red Outdoor Girl, which I mentioned and showed in my post I hope so at the beginning of the month, and three yellow Yellow Perfection, which were slower to ripen.  Since I planted them all out in early June I’ve done nothing except water rather erratically, which probably accounted for a few having blossom end rot or split skins.  I’ve probably picked twice as many red ones as yellow, but all have been a good size.  I’ve found that some have had rather crewy skins which was almost certainly due to them being cooked in the periods of very warm weather.  Not surprisingly there’s been no sign of blight, but with it now being damp and humid it’s likely to appear.

Here are the sedums, looking much better than they did last year.

Have a good weekend, and take care!

  1. You just cannot beat the taste of home grown tomatoes.

    Your sedum looks wonderful.

Enjoy what will be the last weekend of August, hard to believe we shall be in September on Monday!

    All the best Jan

  2. Today a friend described the opposite experience to yours of tomato growing. Large fruits that only ripened at the stalk end. Unlike yours, those tomatoes were all greenhouse grown. This may well have been a year for outdoor growth here.
Your harvest seems pretty good despite all the weather experiences.

  3. Glad to hear your tomatoes have done well, we never know what’s going to happen when we sow those tiny seeds in spring. Your sedum is a beauty.

  4. Your plants and you seem to be communicating well. The responses with growth must be very satisfying. Your Marigold looks very healthy.
We had some rain yesterday evening and probably overnight. Today is bright and sunny. It’s the weather pattern I like best 😄. Xxx

  5. I love the sedums Mike. I shall look into growing them on my plot. Tomatoes have done well my end too. Still have a couple of plants that need their fruit to ripen. The family have loved eating tomatoes fresh from the vine too! Xx
