There are Gardeners’ World Specials being shown tomorrow and next Friday on BBC2 at 8.00pm.
This week it’s The Cottage Garden in which Rachel de Thame has some contemporary ideas as climate change threatens the survival of many plants.
Next week is River of Flowers with Sarah Raven who is encouraging people to create a river of wild flowers linking protected meadows and woodlands.
I always appreciate it when friends mention me in their blogs, and especially when it’s linked. Louise did that with her airbourne and two awards… entry that she did on Sunday. The aircraft that she saw were The Blades aerobatic team, although the website needs to be updated as their aircraft now wear this very smart scheme!
Sinta in her recently renamed blog Knittering (it was Garden Bootstrap) tagged me in her entry Me…a 1930s wife? She said she was just kidding but as she called me wonderful Mr Flighty I agreed to do it, but did the husband quiz not the wife one! According to my answers I would have been a good husband in the 1930’s!
Have a good weekend!
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
It’s a UK bank holiday weekend so no doubt it will rain.

Daffy thanks you too!
I read earlier that it’s set to be the wettest August for 100 years so you’re probably right!
By the way you didn’t appear as a link so I added your URL by editing your comment. Also where’s your small pink nellie picture?

Heee! I think I did the 1930s wife quiz and failed miserably. I did think, however, that some of the choices were rather limited! Happy weekend to you and do try to stay dry!

hello. Well you know how I’ve been playing about with this google reader thing thanks mainly to our mutual mate here in the middle of us? Well if I’m on the google reader and not logged into wp my brain forgets that google reader can’t mind-read and doesn’t know who I am. ( I said to it….Don’t you know who I am???) ;o)
So don’t worry…nothing sinister. It’s just me taking the scenic route along the learning curve.

Nikki oh dear! Thanks you too!
It’s a long weekend here so as well as plotting I’ll be doing a plot progress post. xx

Daffy hello! Okay I guessed it was something like that but just thought that I’d check.
Enjoy the scenic route but avoid any steep hills! xx

Perhaps it will be dry this weekend, you’ll never know. It has to stop sometime. 😀
I always watch GW (or I tape it) and I must admit that I miss Monty although I miss Geoff more, even after all those years. I heard they have chosen a new headpresenter, I wonder how he will turn out.
Enjoy your long weekend! xxx

Yolanda at the moment the forecast here is for sunny intervals on Saturday and Sunday with heavy showers on Monday.
I think that many people still miss Geoff on Gardeners World. The new presenter is Toby Buckland who I think is a good choice.

I think I am going to enjoy both the GW specials, especially the cottage garden episode. Flighty, I am so pleased you have confirmed the aerobatic team as The Blades. I had a quick mooch on a couple of websites and they weren’t wearing the Barclays logos, so I was a little confused to say the least! x

Louise so will I, especially as Rachel de Thame is presenting one of them!
That confused me as well until I spoke with a friend who told me about the recent change. xx

http://www.chelseaphysicgarden.co.uk/ Rachel mentions this as her favorite garden, and it is situated in the heart of London. Have you been there, Flighty?
I think I know why there are so many garden shows in the UK ~~ the weathermen and the TV gurus are in cahoots ~ as long as it keeps raining, the garden shows will be watched with the premise that you’ll remember what you are missing. 😉
I have a book somewhere about the”roles of husbands and wives” in the 60’s I think. I remember one of the suggestions was for the wife to be cooking onions when the husband got home after his hard day at work, he’d at least have the idea that something good was for supper! Funny thinking about “roles”…it seems so much more sensible to have input from both partners as to what they’d like to do, share, etc. But those were the days of definitely defined roles. I think that’s one of the reasons marriage got a “bad rep”, because instead of two young lovers, all of a sudden they were in “mother and father” roles…that’s enough to kill romance for many! Whoops, better get off my soapbox…;)

Cafecortado I was working yesterday when it was quite nice but today it’s raining!
There’s not much left to harvest on the plot except runner beans. Cheers!

Gloria I’m not surprised. I’ve been there a couple of times and would like to go again.
You could well be right about garden shows. However Gardeners World is about the only one on mainstream, terrestrial TV!
It’s interesting what you say about marital roles! xx
