Why Golf?

Experiences are our greatest teacher. First Tee believes in developing the ones that are just as fun as they are meaningful, where kids feel excited to grow, safe to fail, and better equipped for whatever comes their way next. Through our personal growth and junior golf programs, we see kids’ build self confidence, inspiring more active participation in leadership opportunities and events, community involvement, and college scholarships.

School Program:

Research reveals convincing evidence that youth involved in our programs transferred life skills to multiple settings and learned and used life skills through the game of golf. Our curriculum, combined with trained educators, empowers participants with a set of skills that prepares them for a lifetime of new challenges.

Since 2004, First Tee has been integrating the First Tee School Program into PE classes across the country. We’ve equipped educators at elementary and middle schools with our curriculum built around the game of golf, while positively impacting kids through both the game and its inherent ability to improve social-emotional learning (SEL) skills. We work with the school to identify funding opportunities, such as sponsors or donations.

This program aligns with national physical education standards developed by the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) and is designed to allow physical educators the ability to adjust lessons to fit their specific teaching situations in terms of class size, time, and facility type.

What’s provided:

First Tee School Program gives physical educators all the tools to get started. We provide the training, equipment, and lesson plans that integrate life skills and values with the game of golf and motor skills. We have an online community for teachers and youth leaders delivering our program, providing access to the curriculum, resources, and connections with peers delivering the program around the country.

On-Site Trainings & Field Trips:

Interested in having First Tee-Greater Seattle come out to your site? Our trained coaches will help lead a training session for your teachers at Job-A-Like days, or even come out to your school to help coach your students. First Tee – Greater Seattle also partners with local Elementary and Middle Schools to bring their students to the course, at little to no cost to the school. These opportunities are reserved for those schools actively participating in the school program, to bring what they’re learning in the classroom to the course. General Waiver

I, the parent/legal guardian of the above named youth, give approval for participation in First Tee sponsored activities. I assume all risks of injury whatsoever and agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless First Tee Chapter and Headquarters Office from claim(s) of any nature arising from any activity, including transportation, connected with First Tee facility or program. This hold harmless agreement includes, but is not limited to, any claim due to injury proximately resulting from negligence of First Tee Chapter or Headquarters Office, its directors, employees, agents, LPGA and PGA Professionals, participating agencies, and volunteers. I consent to The First Tee Chapter and Headquarters Office communicating information regarding my child’s participation via the internet.

Medical Release

In the event that I cannot be reached in an emergency, I hereby authorize and consent to all medical, surgical and hospital care, treatment and procedures to be performed on or for my child named above by a licensed physician or hospital when deemed necessary or advisable by the physician to safeguard my child’s health. I understand that consent to treat is implied in emergency situations, and I waive my right to informed consent to such treatment as well as further treatment that the physician would deem advisable during the time I cannot be reached to participate in such treatment decisions.
