How many people will be on the course?
We have a maximum of 12 people on our Dog First Aid courses. This ensures a comfortable learning environment and the time and space for everyone to get lots of hands on practice.
Do you use real dogs on the course?
We use a specially designed dog first aid manikin called Casper and our toy dog models for the first aid skills practice. Casper is essential to our course as he allows you to safely practice your CPR skills so you are prepared if the worst happens with your own dog.
Can I bring my dog along to the course?
No, (as much as we would love to meet them) our venue is not set up for your dogs to attend with you. We do encourage you to set aside some time with your dog when you get home to try out some of your new skills.

Or, we can come to you…if you would prefer to have your dog with you on the course, we can run a Dog First Aid course from your home with a small group of friends or colleagues and we would be delighted to have your dogs present.

What do I need to wear on the course?
We recommend you wear comfortable clothing (not skirts or dresses) to participate in the practical elements of our training. You will also be asked to remove your shoes, so you might want to wear your best socks.
I am unable to kneel on the floor, can I still attend?
Yes of course, we can adapt the practical elements for you and usually move Casper, our dog manikin, to a table for you to practice on.
What qualification do I get after attending?
You achieve a certificate of attendance from First Aid for Pets. If you work with dogs the certificate is great to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in Dog First Aid to new and potential clients.
How do I book / pay for a course?

Our practical courses can be booked at https://firstaidforpets.net/dog-first-aid-training-course/ where you can select an available course date and pay through Eventbrite by paypal or debit/credit card. If you would like us to run a Dog First Aid course at your home or workplace, then please contact us and we will make all of the necessary arrangements by phone and email.

Where does the course take place?

The course will usually be held at the White Eagle Club in Balham in South London. If this has not been confirmed, please contact the organiser. 

What is covered in the Dog First Aid course?
The course is 3 hours and covers how to care for an unconscious dog whether they are breathing or not breathing, as well as commonly occurring injuries and illnesses including choking, bleeding, fitting, poisoning and much more.
Are the trainers CRB / DBS checked?
Yes, all of our trainers are DBS checked and they also teach human first aid courses with First Aid for Life so they will be able to answer all of your questions.
