We will be adding more content soon, but for now, a little context:
The original publishers of the Firebrand operated out of Portland, OR from 1895-1897. From what we can tell, they often published poems on the front pages of their papers. After publishing Walt Whitman’s “A Woman Waits For Me” in 1897, the publishers were arrested and put in jail. Upon arrest, they moved the paper to San Francisco.
