I probably won't do a proper summary of the musical with my thoughts on all of the good, the bad and the meh with more focus on the Hyoutei members and new songs. So if you want to ask about anything feel free to do so and I will try to remember and answer. And sorry if it gets more rambly and fangirly as the list goes on. I tried to be unbiased at the start!

Once again, I've noticed my pile of things to sell (either because of accidental duplicate buying, changing tastes or bad luck with kuji/lottery goods) has gotten large and it was time to make a sales post.

All of the prices are posted in Canadian dollars and does not include shipping.

All payments will only be accepted in CAD via Paypal.

I will be shipping from Japan. You can choose between two options, small packet SAL which takes around 2 weeks and has no tracking information but is a fairly cheap option. I suggest this for people who trust their postal systems. I have used it numerous times to Australia/Canada/UK/America with no problems. The other choice is EMS which is faster and has tracking but can be quite expensive. I offer both options because I understand that some people have limited money to spend and would rather spend it on fandom goods and not shipping of those goods.

Packages will be shipped as soon as possible but because of my local post office's short operating hours and my job I will probably only be able to send items out on Mondays. I will do my best to send them sooner if possible.

When you want to buy something, please give your country and preferred shipping method so I can give you the price for shipping. I weigh the goods inside a box and use the Japan Post website to try and give an accurate estimate of what the actual cost will be.

The total price will include the price of all of the things you want to buy, shipping price and Paypal fees all converted into Canadian dollars (CAD).

If you have any questions about the goods I'm selling or the shipping options please feel free to leave me a comment or email me at fic.faery@gmail.com .

For the third season, Tenimyu is trying out a few different things. One of them is that they're having mini lives with the teams separately between the musicals. And last week was the Seigaku team live. I only saw it once, so as always, please forgive me if I forgot anything, remembered it in the wrong order or made some mistakes. This is part summary and part me fangirling for my own memories.

As always some disclaimers. First, I have to say that I am not a big fan of the Nationals Rikkai story arc. This is of course not Tenimyu’s fault but Konomi’s so I’ll try not to pick on weird plot devices or holes in the story too much and just stick to if Tenimyu did a good job with it and if it's enjoyable to watch.

Having said that, I also wasn’t a big fan of Rikkai Nationals Part 1 in Season 1 so I was looking forward to it being combined with part 2 and seeing what season 2 could make of it. I know some people worried about the time of the two musicals combined, but if you watch the two first season musicals, you can see where they can save time by not having to recap the first part or having as many opening/closing numbers. So while the time did clock in at near 4 hours (including two 10-15 minute intermissions) it wasn’t that far off of the Kanto Rikkai musical and it moved at a good pace so it never felt that long. Also, because they were going between Echizen and the match it did give the boys some small breaks.

Some non-spoilery general thoughts.

They did add some new songs, take out some and update others. I think all of them worked quite well and unless you know that a song has been cut/changed, it doesn’t feel like it. So it’s a nicely cohesive musical. It’s also bursting with songs with around 40 of them in total. It’s nearly at opera level at parts. Why talk for exposition when you can sing? Though it does create some oddly short song or songs cut up by several long talking parts. I do not envy the people who have to turn this musical into a listenable soundtrack.

The acting was at top level. Which is to be expected seeing as all of the characters (except new Atobe) are returning to their roles. Kaminaga’s Yukimura has matured nicely into the badass Yukimura we expect in Nationals. And Hide’s Niou does an amazing job of making every dance move he does into a Niou styled move. He’s really upped his game. Even Ken’s Sanada has improved his dancing… in his own way. (I enjoy teasing him but he’s not that bad)

The pacing of the musical moves quickly but never feels like it’s being rushed. There are still plenty of silly moments that will make you laugh and those serious moments that will make you want to cheer the boys on or wipe back some tears.

So overall, if you can’t tell yet, I really enjoyed it. From the first time I saw it, I enjoyed it. It didn’t blow me away after the first viewing but I walked out smiling. And after seeing it several more times and seeing how the boys improved through the length of the run, I found more and more to like until there’s very few things I don’t love.

If you’re debating whether it’s worth buying/watching/etc let me tell you that in my opinion, it is. I’ve already started saving up my pennies to buy it. I’m sure all the behind the scenes extra will make the price even more worth it.

On the 24th and 25th I was in Tokyo to watch Tenimyu three times (Yes, three >.>) and Frogs. On the 24th, after cafe hopping with my friend, we parted ways and I headed to the Tokyo Dome City Hall for my first viewing of Tenimyu Seigaku vs Hyoutei Nationals. I got there early, mostly to abuse their air conditioning, but also because I wasn't sure how busy it would be. Apparently an afternoon weekday show isn't that busy and I was able to get in and buy my goods in about ten minutes. Not bad!

I then wandered the floors (There's 4 of them so plenty to wander) and poked at the various 'Inui notes'. In celebration of the 1000th show earlier in the week, they had the notes set out so you could leave a message. I liked flipping through them and seeing the amazing artwork that other fans had drawn inside of them.

Eventually I made my way to my seat.

My adventures at and thoughts about Tenimyu!Collapse )

Once again I'm spending all my money on pretty boys. If you'd like to join in on spending too much money on pretty boys, I'd be happy to help you pick up some goods. Please don't spread this offer around to too many people as I don't want to buy up all the good and have to carry them around with me and back home.

But if you desperately want something, I'll be happy to try and get it for you (should be able to as long as it's not sold out)

I only charge for the goods, shipping, paypal fees and convert it all into Canadian dollars (CAD) using a good exchange rate.

The shows I'll be seeing: (Linked directly to the goods page if they're up)

July 24-25 - Tenimyu - Seigaku vs National Hyoutei!
July 25 - Frogs (Scroll down the page a little to see the goods. They have a pamphlet, shoulder bag, t-shirt and random pins that come in sets of 2)
August 2 - Gyakuten Saiban
August 2 - Tumbling 4
August 27 - Shinrei Tantei Yakumo

If there's anything you'd like please leave a comment or message me and we can work out payment/shipping method and everything else.

I should be making a real and normal post next. I need to try to make them more ofte because I do have a lot of random things to share but I always forget to do it and then there's too much to share or I've forgotten everything. >.< I must get better at blogging again!

The two casts of the show. The left side is the 'delivery team' and the right side is the 'receiving team' with the center being in both shows

On May 18th (Wow! Nearly a month already... I fail at timely write-ups), I went and saw the Sagawa Danshi reprise put on by the Naked Boyz agency. I wasn't quite sure what it would be about going into it but the title alone intrigued me. For those of you that don't know, Sagawa is a parcel delivery company and recently, many of their employees seem to be young handsome men. And as I had received a package from Sagawa a few weeks earlier, and it was delivered by a young handsome man, I was hooked on the whole Sagawa thing. So it was quite easy for Jess to talk me into going.

I also was unsure of what to expect because I'd never been to a show put on by Naked Boyz and it was at a small venue. I should know better than to have a negative bias towards shows at small theatres as the DVDs I've seen of these small theatre plays have normally been amazing and quite a high quality story or production for the small stage and room.

The theatre was located in the Tsukiji district, best known for its early morning fish auction, at the Tsukiji Honganji temple grounds on the second floor of a building that housed a soba restaurant. After loitering at a nearby Starbucks for an hour or so and getting our tickets for Gamba 9 (a musical about mice) Jess and I headed up the stairs which were lined with ridiculously large bouquets of flowers and then came to the lobby area that was filled with fans, a goods table and pretty boys who were obviously members of Naked Boyz who were in the other cast. The show was double cast with a receiving team and delivery team. We were going to watch the receiving team so it was the delivery team working in the lobby.

We were greeted enthusiastically by one member just as we reached the top of the stairs and he asked us where we were from in English. But as Jess and I only really knew one member of Naked Boyz and he wasn't in the lobby (Okki was part of the team we were seeing) we suddenly felt a bit awkward. All the Japanese fans were quite excited to be interacting with the boys and knew who they were and were even teasing them. The feeling in general was very relaxed (at least for the fans who weren't trying to figure out who these boys were like us) and everyone was very polite and well behaved which was great. It seems like a show or event put on by a single agency often employs their other members in helping with various aspects from collecting presents, selling goods, serving drinks, directing to seats or anything else that may be required for the show. Ingot put their boys to work for Kanesaki's last birthday event and Boys and Men members help run everything at each other's solo lives and talk shows. And lesser known agency members can even be spotted accepting presents or helping in the lobby at D-Stages. But somehow, Jess and I weren't expecting this at Sagawa Danshi or we would have done our homework before we arrived!

So having done my homework now, here are the list of Naked Boyz in the two teams. Their positions on the list mirror who they played. So the first people in the list played the same character, the second people the same and so on.

Receiving Team (Who we saw on stage):

Yoshiaki Hattori
Enichi Tanno
Toshiki Kawai
Kohei Natsukawa
Teruya Mori
Yuki Kimura
Yuki Yamaoki
Kei Nakazawa
Yuki Matsuoka (He was in both casts as the same character)

Delivery Team (Who we saw in the lobby):

Ryo Sakaguchi (I thought he was really handsome in the lobby. Lovely smile)
Kouji Iwasaki
Keita Kubo
Takayasu Ohya
Hiroki Takaoka
Hiro Natsuki
Gen Sasaki
Asuma

DStage 13th - this pamphlet was much better than the DStage 10th one.

A couple weeks ago I went to Osaka's opening show of Dstage 13th Chonganne. There were only two shows in Osaka – Saturday and Sunday evening – and they were held at the Morinomiya Piloti Hall.

Despite being the 13th production put on in the DBoys/D2 Dstage series, Chonganne is their first musical. It is also a Japanese translation of a Korean musical. The latter fact was less surprising as they have taken previous Dstage plays from various locations around the world. But considering how many of the boys have been in musicals and that this was the first musical in the Dstage series was surprising. I hope that they will do more in the future.

A brief rundown of the show and thoughtsCollapse )

As part of the 10th year anniversary celebrations, Tenimyu released two encore singles. We Are Always Together A which features season 1 encore songs and the new season 2 song. And version B which has only season encore songs. Included in the cds were a handshake event ticket. The event took place twice. The first was the day after the final Dream Live show in Yokohama and the second the day after the final Dream Live show in Kobe.

Since Jess and I were going to see the final show (DaiRaku) in Kobe, we decided to stay overnight and go to the handshake event. We had bought both of the singles so we were armed and ready with two handshake event coupons (Which neither of us thought to take pics of... whoops).

I was talking about going to the upcoming Kuro Shitsuji musical with some friends when someone asked if I'd be willing to buy them goods (And then several others gave me the puppy dog eyes). When it comes to friends I'm normally quite happy to purchase goods for them for any show I'm going to as long as the request isn't too impractical or the item isn't sold out. I started this because I hated seeing friends getting ripped off by people who drastically overcharge for goods. (I'd offer my services to everyone but I'm not sure my kindness goes far enough to cover the organization and hassle of large orders.)

So here I am, reaffirming that I will (if you absolutely must have something) buy goods for friends as I stated some time in the long distant past.

I charge for the price of the item, packaging I'll need to buy and shipping and then convert it from yen to Canadian Dollars before adding on any paypal fees.

Upcoming shows include:

May 4-5 Tenimyu Dream Live 2013 (I won't buy posters as they're troublesome to carry around and pack and I give the warning that while the pamphlet is cool, it is large.)

May 11 DStage 13th Chonganne - Along with the pictured goods, it also says it's selling photo sets (600yen) of each main boy.

May 19 Kuroshitsuji - They don't have an official goods page up yet. But they're selling pamphlets 2000yen), photosets (600yen each) of all the characters, clear files - 2 sets of 2 different types (800yen) and a shopping bag (700yen)

May 24 Basara 3 - Utage the photo sets are a bit more but you do get 5 of them. The other photo option is one A4 sized picture.

August 2 Tumbling 4 (No goods list yet)

If you would like me to pick you up something let me know in the comments.

Also, I'm leaving this post unlocked to share with friends who aren't on my friends' list but please don't take that as an invitation to offer my services to everyone you know. I will cap the amount of goods I'll buy if it reaches a point where I don't think I can buy it all.

* Seigaku vs Higa ft Rikkai! Let's go~

During the winter holidays I was able to go and watch Tenimyu Seigaku vs Higa two times. And last Sunday I watched the live viewing of it in Kyoto. And under full disclosure I will admit that I am not a fan of Higa so while I was looking forward to watching Tenimyu like I always am, I wasn’t overly excited about the story. However, Rikkai was there, the actors playing the Higa boys are adorable and I had fairly high expectations for what the 7th Seigaku cast could do so I was trying to go in with an open mind.

My first viewing of the musical left something to be desired and I think a lot of it came down to the flow of the musical. It has a slow start. It’s not a bad start per say, but also not the type of introduction one expects from Tenimyu. Though having come home and watched the first season version of HigaMyu, I saw that it started the same way.

For my second viewing, I was able to enjoy the musical more. And I think knowing how the story and songs were unfolding helped. But considering how high a bar second season has set for itself I think I was expecting something with a bit more of an initial wow! Also, to be fair, Tenimyu is confined to a certain extent by its source material and coming from Rikkai myu which was epic at 2 hours and 45 minutes I do think that any show that followed was bound to feel a little less amazing.

After the live viewing though, I was hooked. I left feeling buzzed and on a Tenimyu high. I guess three times really is the charm.

Higa myu is two acts, 55 minutes and 60 minutes respectively and if you’ve seen the first season musical for Higa than you’ll have a very good idea of what you’ll be seeing this time as the basic song pattern and plot remain the same. So my detailed summary might not be as detailed as normal. Though a thanks to drkparadise who helped me fill in some missing details.

Hello, TDC. Goodbye, Seigaku

On Sunday I went to my first show in the TDC hall and it was for the Seigaku Farewell Party (not a bad first show!). I typically see Tenimyu shows in Osaka and before that I saw a few shows in Hiroshima (My first Tenimyu experience was there and it was a great!). The one time I saw Tenimyu in Tokyo it wasn’t at the TDC for that part of the run >.<. So a part of me was rather excited to be seeing Tenimyu at the TDC Hall though it was far eclipsed by my excitement at seeing the show.

And as always, while I do my best to make an accurate report some things may be wrong (In fact, I know things are in the wrong order despite how sure of it I sound in my report) because I only saw it once and/or because my Japanese can be quite fail at times. Also I’m rather certain the song order is wrong but I did my best! :D
